Jane Doe & Mike Bickle. Do We Really Need To Know Jane Doe?

David slayed Goliath, but the lust in David’s heart was a Goliath that he refused to slay.

Mike Bickle was 42 and the woman in question was 19 years old.

We don’t need to know who she is.

It’s a common “midlife” crisis, possibly marriage on the rocks situation.

The lust that’s in the heart, male and female, is common.

According to what’s alleged. They both engaged in sexual immorality. According to what’s reported, he gave her the key to his hotel room, and she was either manipulated or she consented to engage in sexual immorality.

If it was a case of rape, chances are, perhaps she may have a criminal case against Mike Bickle. Nonetheless, adultery took place.

Women that’s smitten with men of professional backgrounds use their position to deceive weak gullible women. Pastors will use Scripture and their personality to win over the heart of the “target.”

But then there’s the probability that she used her beauty to get what she wanted too.

Power over a powerful man.

Proverbs 7:24-27 (NKJV)

“Now therefore, listen to me, my children;

Pay attention to the words of my mouth:

Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways,

Do not stray into her paths;

For she has cast down many wounded,

And all who were slain by her were strong men.

Her house is the way to hell,

Descending to the chambers of death.”

Jane Doe may have been an innocent, but gullible young lady, smitten by a married man.

The dynamics of the power of attraction works in men as with women.

Young, innocent, and beautiful. Eye contact. The admiration of a young attractive woman. The attraction of a strong powerful man.

However, when you’re about following the Lord, as a young woman, the last thing on your mind is to sin against God by consenting in sexual immorality with a married man.

In a letter by Mike Bickle, he confessed to doing everything “short of sexual intercourse.” Even without sexual intercourse, it’s still sexual immorality.

How?

Matthew 5:27-30 (NKJV) “You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery.’

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.”

Then what’s next?

We make “provision” to fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

When admiration of beauty turns into an intent of lust, the adultery in the heart was committed and we set out to satisfy the lusts of the flesh.

We don’t know if she was a virgin or married at the time, nonetheless, you don’t accept a key to another man’s room.

Now we don’t know what led up to these moments of sexual immorality, but there’s no question in my mind that the starting point led to a level of trust.

Jane Doe had to trust him or at the very least, have a sense of security. Or, a simple abandonment of Biblical godly boundaries to pursue what she wanted. To fulfill the communication contact and consummate it in the bedroom. From eye contact to physical stimulation leading to orgasm.

She trusted him enough to accept a key to his room. The alarm bells before this sin should have been recognized. Ethics on the part of the pastor should have been in place. But one thing that must be understood is that even if ethics were in place, there’s always a way to defeat them. The lack of discipline and self control.

Men think like boys when it comes to sex. If there’s parental oversight, the son or daughter will find a way to defeat every obstacle of prohibition and open up the window in the middle of the night, climb down the rope, and to “rendezvous” in the barn on the haystack.

The focus right now is on Mike Bickle. Why he kept this a secret for over 20 years.

On the other hand, Jane Doe kept it quiet too.

What’s even worse is that the charismatic community is covering up another scandal because “elitism” born out of charismatic pride, it gives a pastor a sense of invincibility and it gives them a sense of becoming untouchable.

Ah. It’s just another sin. The blood will cover it. No problem, keep it moving.

Like David, his lust becomes a pursuit that must be fulfilled.

David slayed Goliath, but the lust in David’s heart was a Goliath that he refused to slay.

Even if it means God is offended. We no longer care about pleasing the Lord. We care less about holiness, sanctification, purity, and righteousness.

Jane Doe, consenting to the sexual immoral advances of a pastor is just as wicked.

Proverbs 11:22 (NKJV) “As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.”

Men are smitten by a beautiful woman and women know it. Their beauty is enticing.

But the Scriptures is clear.

Proverbs 6:23-29 (NKJV)

“For the commandment is a lamp,

And the law a light;

Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

To keep you from the evil woman,

From the flattering tongue of a seductress.

Do not lust after her beauty in your heart,

Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.

For by means of a harlot

A man is reduced to a crust of bread;

And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life.

Can a man take fire to his bosom,

And his clothes not be burned?

Can one walk on hot coals,

And his feet not be seared?

So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife;

Whoever touches her shall not be innocent.”

Jane Doe could have easily set the trap just like Mike Bickle could have set the trap.

They both could have been on the hunt for each other.

The physical attraction brought them to a collision. They’ve probably conversed and “hit it off.” A communication connection. Then after there’s been a communication connection, the next obvious step is to explore the physical connection.

A woman feels in love and a man, married man, does everything in his power to “win her over.” Just as James 1:14-15 tells us.

“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

After the physical contact, they both sit there and realized that it was sin. You begin to use every Scripture in the Bible to make her not say anything about the incident. At this point, it’s a panic scene.

Thinking that you could be successful in keeping things quiet (for 20+ years), you go back to service, thinking that if you would look normal and preach normal, no one would know.

The Lord knew from the beginning of time that this would happen.

If Jane Doe was an enemy planted to make a man of God fall, she would have exposed Mike Bickle on the spot, but this didn’t happen. Which underscores the fact that it was likely complicity in consensual sexual immorality.

Jane Doe could also have been a victim of Mike Bickle’s sexual advances, using his professional position to gain sexual advantages while being a married man, experiencing a midlife crisis, coupled with a troubled marriage.

Or, Jane Doe was smitten by Mike Bickle’s position of power and desired him sexually.

With these things in mind, let’s remember that Jane Doe may be a victim. Innocent as the white driven snow. But when we peel back the possibilities, Jane Doe, involved with a married “preacher,” may have also been complicit in committing sexual immorality.

Both have sinned before God and they are just as much in need of forgiveness AFTER repentance and coming clean about sexual immorality.

For Jane Doe.

2 Timothy 3:4-7 (NKJV) “…lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Covering Up Pastoral Sexual Scandals

Whenever a minister sexually sins before the Lord, he searches for ways to cover his sin instead of exercising discipline not to sin against God.

Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV)

“He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

In Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for “cover” is…

h3680. כָּסָה ḵâsâ; a primitive root;

properly, to plump, i.e. fill up hollows;

by implication, to cover (for clothing or secrecy): — clad self, close, clothe, conceal, cover (self), (flee to) hide, overwhelm. Compare 3780.
AV (152) – cover 135, hide 6, conceal 4, covering 2, overwhelmed 2, clad 1, closed 1, clothed 1;
to cover, conceal, hide

(Qal) conceal, covered (participle)

(Niphal) to be covered

(Piel) to cover, clothe to cover, conceal to cover (for protection) to cover over, spread over to cover, overwhelm

(Pual) to be covered to be clothed

(Hithpael) to cover oneself, clothe oneself.”

A familiar story comes to mind of the first coverup.

Genesis 3:6-10 (NKJV) “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”

So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

The Hebrew word for “coverings” is….

h2290. חֲגוֹר ḥăg̱ôr; or חֲגֹר ḥagor; and (feminine) חֲגוֹרָה ḥagôrah; or חֲגֹרָה ḥagorah; from 2296; a belt (for the waist): — apron, armour, gird(-le).
AV (6) – girdle 3, apron 1, armour 1, gird 1;
girdle, belt girdle, loin-covering, belt, loin-cloth, armour.”

So, the first thing that Adam and Eve had done was cover up their lower parts and then they both ran for cover when they heard the Lord walking in the Garden.

The story speaks for itself.

There’s a common pattern.

  1. The commandment.
  2. The responsibility to be obedient.
  3. The false sense of security that nothing will happen if you sin.
  4. The deliberate intentional commission of the transgression.
  5. The discovery and conviction that sin was committed.
  6. The fear of accountability and coverup.
  7. The Law Giver searches and finds the lawbreaker.

Whenever a minister sexually sins before the Lord, he searches for ways to cover his sin instead of exercising discipline not to sin against God.

They suppress the commandment of God and yield to the temptation.

James 1:14 (NKJV)
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.”

Just like what happened to Eve in the Garden.

In desperation, a frantic church administration takes irrational steps to “circle the wagons,” but it’s futile before the Omniscient God. The spin and smoke screens are released in emails, social media posts, and YouTube press releases to get “ahead” of the story.

Not realizing that the God of heaven is watching or has seen it all unfold before time began. It only underscores that the fear of the Lord is nonexistent. They never knew Him is the first place because if they knew the Lord, they wouldn’t have considered attempting to cover up the pastor or the sin.

All sorts of phrases are used which only amount to lies.

In fact, before time began, He knew that we would break the law. He knew beforehand that Adam would sin.

You see, the Lord is prepared to go either way.

If we walk in obedience, He’s pleased, and there’s no need for punishment or consequences.

If we walk in disobedience, He’s not pleased. Punishment and consequences must follow.

It’s a mystery that we’ll never grasp with our finite minds.

Ministries and executive leadership teams, elder boards, deacon boards, board of directors, trustees, and other organizational establishments rarely get it right.

With the many sexual scandals that have occurred over the centuries, some have gotten it right.

  1. Upon discovery, you bring in the parties involved and SEPARATELY question the allegations.
  2. If you have a question as to what to do, you call your attorney.
  3. Upon establishing the facts, you immediately take appropriate action.
  4. If criminal acts such as rape, and other sexual crimes are alleged, you contact the police and the district attorney.
  5. No, we don’t leave out Matthew 18:18-20.

And you don’t wait as most ministries and churches do.

What you want to do is provide the correct Biblical and legal response to the allegations without “circling the wagons” as most ministries do.

When the law is brought to bear the way that it’s supposed to work, it’s the one thing you need to get right, 100% of the time. Because if it’s discovered that you’ve participated in a coverup, you might be liable for “obstruction of justice” charges.

Adam and Eve violated the commandment of God and sought to hide because they’ve discovered that their sin was egregious.

How egregious? Their eyes were opened and when they’ve looked at themselves and each other, the shame of being naked became apparent.

So the natural thing to do is to “cover up.”

But it was too late. Adam died at the age of 930 years. The Lord’s judgment came to pass, just as He said. To properly put it in perspective, it’s seen in Scripture that the Lord provided atonement for Adam and Eve by providing cover for them by killing an animal and making coverings of skin to cover their shame.

Then the plan was initiated (see Genesis 3:15) to save man by sending His Son to atone (cover) for the sin of the world. By faith (trust), we fall on the mercy of God by repenting of sin and placing faith on Christ, then live by His commandments to abstain from sin for the rest of our lives.

If a ministry is involved in false teaching, they need to renounce, denounce, rescind, and destroy false teaching and come to the basic gospel message according to Mark 16:16, Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and Galatians 1:6-9.

So when you see boards and other church administrations involved in protecting the minister, they may be involved in obstruction of justice.

The alleged victim is also afraid. He or she came forward and brought serious allegations against the minister. When they’re brought in for questioning or they come on their own, it’s a very serious ordeal.

But it’s about getting the facts and then take appropriate action.

The charismatics and even denominational organizations, over the years, have been involved in coverups because it’s embarrassing.

Their first level of sorrow is the fact that sin against God was committed.

No coverup.

No conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Coming clean is painfully ugly and the world will do what the world does, but when it comes to the Lord and His commandments, you do everything possible to get to the bottom of this and get it right with God FIRST.

The evil doers, should they refuse to repent, God will deal with them.

“Lord, in WRATH, REMEMBER MERCY.” Said Amos.

Luke 8:17-18 (NKJV) “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.”

Anyone that makes even a hint of trying to cover it up, get rid of them quickly. They don’t have God’s righteousness working in them.

Hebrews 4:13 (NKJV) “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

The Lord already has His hand on the situation.

Ezekiel 8:17-18 (NKJV) “And He said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here?

For they have filled the land with violence; then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. Indeed they put the branch to their nose.

Therefore I also will act in fury. My eye will not spare nor will I have pity; and though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.”

The last thing you want when you remain pridefully impenitent is to fall into His hands.

Hebrews 10:30-31 (NKJV) “For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.”

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

So why do people entertain the coverup when a pastor is caught in sin, in a confirmed sexual scandal?

  1. Money.
  2. Reputation.
  3. Prestige.

Your preacher is bringing home the “bacon.”

Everyone working in the ministry is depending upon the paycheck.

The church has established a reputation and if you lose the reputation, the people will walk. When people walk, the money goes with them.

The prestige of being recognized by your peers as a top notch ministry is pride.

As Proverbs 16:18 say, “Pride comes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall.”

James 4:6 (NKJV) “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

1 Peter 5:5b-6 (NKJV) “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,”

Until then, church administrations will engage in the coverups, and they will continue.

Preaching Against Homosexuality And Other Sex Sins May Cost You

Dr. Michael Brown describes in unambiguous terms, by the Holy Spirit, that there may come a day when preaching against Secret And Overt Sexual Sins will land you “in jail.” It’s a reminder of what we are supposed to be doing as far as the gospel is concerned. The slumber that we are in is loud and clear as a person snoring like a buzz saw.

This article underscores the sleeping giant of the church that missed opportunity after opportunity to “Awake out of sleep.”

Chance after chance has been given to us. Additionally, Dr. Brown had an interview with Jonathan Cahn, NYT best seller of The Harbinger.

“The Mystery Of The Shemitah Unlocked” is regarding America under judgment. I won’t elaborate on the contents of the book but it appears that the Lord is putting two and two together. You would have to be a stoned to miss this.

Along with Perry Stone, Bill Cloud, Donald Perkins and many other end times prophetic preachers and teachers, there is growing evidence that America is in for a big wake up. Additionally, the end times is setting itself up and if we are not careful, we will miss the greatest event of all time to date.

The catching away of the church.

But if I know the church well enough, even when something (judgment) happens, the church will just roll over in bed as if God can’t do anything more.

You are sadly mistaken.

God did say that He would shake both heaven and earth (see Hebrews 12:25-29).

A nation isn’t judged just because of the sins it commits.

Peter warned us in 1 Peter 4:17 that “…judgment must begin at the house of God.”

Just like the nation of Israel was judged before those that did harm to Israel were judged, so must the church be judged in the same way before the world is judged.

However, as Paul said by the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 11:31-32,

“If we would judge ourselves we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.”

How do we judge ourselves?

When we repent and ask the Lord to forgive us. Then we seek not to be under the bondage of sin ever again. True deliverance is when you overcome sins guilt and power by the grace of God, in obedience to the Word of God. Simply put, you stop playing church and act like a believer in Jesus.

The barometer of a nation is determined by the church. If sin is evident in the church, the world believes that it’s immune to any form of judgment.

Why is this?

Because the church believes that it’s immune to the judgment of God.

With unbelievable impunity, we sin like it’s a common or regular thing to do inside the church. There is no humility so the Lord opens the flood gates to bring humiliation.

Great nations that have fallen in the past had an immunity or sense of arrogance because the people and leaders in the church are arrogant. It’s like we think that because we are great, we can do what we want.

Such pride is destined for destruction.

The purpose of judgment is to correct and warn the people to get right before God. When the church, after judgment, refuses to come to the Lord in repentance, humility, and mourning for its sins, God initiates consequential judgment.

To date, very few would dare bow a knee in repentance. It’s business as usual in the house of the Lord. I agree with Jonathan Cahn that revival can happen even when judgment falls. It’s in hopes that the church would return to the Lord, and that we would minister to the nation the pure gospel of God.

Sadly, there are many black leaders that are still under the spell of Obama. It’s even voiced that there is hatred towards Obama.

Quite the contrary.

There must be a love for God and His commandments. For we prove our love for Him when we keep His commandments (see John 14:15 and 1 John 5:1-5. The president has yet to display to believers in the United States that he loves the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. A child of God never comes short in loving the Lord to the degree that a child of God hates sin on the same level as God does.

This very nation’s existence is in the balance.

The prophets of God are not speaking the word of the Lord. The pastors are protecting their current president by saying that there is hatred for Obama. Not realizing that the policies that the president is imposing is against the Word of God (see James 4:4). It won’t be long before preachers will be thrown in jail for standing up for what is right.

John the Baptist was an example of this when he stood against Herod and told him that he can’t have his brother’s wife. It cost John jail, and the losing of his life by way of beheading.

Doesn’t this sound similar somewhere in the Middle East?

Here in the United States, if the path towards abolishing the first amendment is becoming a very real, clear and present danger to preaching the gospel, it is certain that many preachers will change their tune and deny the Lord Jesus Christ. The world believes that the only way to silence God is to silence His true preachers. The Jews in the Old Testament know all to well that it doesn’t work. For God keeps sending more true preachers and prophets.

Nonetheless, if you are a preacher of the Lord, you have a job to do.

If you run in the face of adversity, it only reveals that you weren’t called to begin with. Or you were called but over time you changed your mind about preaching against sexual sins because you are neck deep in Secret Sexual Sins yourself.

Preaching against sin and the current administrations policies on homosexuality and abortion will cost you preaching engagements. The preacher friends will walk away from you. Your circle of close preacher friends will diminish. Like roaches, they will scatter from you because your stand against sin is real and theirs is a farce. You begin to see who your real friends are when they walk away from you because you do not support sin. Or you do not support a black president that hurled America head long into the pit of the sin of homosexuality and abortion that is currently in office. Or the opposite happens.

Because you walk “not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;” nor dwell with hypocrite preachers, you walk away from them and it doesn’t mean you hate them. You hate trying to play like you agree with them knowing that they no longer agree with God and His Word.

As a result of living a convicted life, they refuse to be convicted and begin to make excuses.

LGBT: Dr. Michael Brown’s Article Entitled; “Facebook Approved Religious Harassment

Just finished reading a powerful argument from Dr. Michael Brown, author of “A Queer Thing Happened To America” regarding Facebook’s double standard intended to harass believers in Christ that create pages that preach against the sin of homosexuality.

Facebook is the phenomenon of social networking, however, we are seeing double standards and rules from this organization that permits lewd and obscene pages, but systematically harass Christ centered pages that stand for holiness, righteousness, and godliness.

This is not code. The Body of Christ has come alive these days to challenge the wickedness of homosexuality and all other demonic forms of sexual immorality and perversion.

As a result, the backlash and punishment is to shut down pages that rebuke, or make a stand against homosexuality. This nation is progressing on a perilous course that many nations refused to change and alter course.

There is a long list of nations that went down this path and were destroyed by God’s judgment.

Here, in the United States, we know that the end times are upon us but it doesn’t mean that we lie down and let them have this nation.

Here in the United States, believers are taking a stand in prayer, blogging, and setting up Facebook pages to not only discuss the sin of homosexuality, but also to provide a place where people that are caught in the sin of homosexuality to break free.

For the Body of Christ, this is the Goliath of our times. Secret and Overt Sexual Sins is the Mother Of All Battles, for the souls of men.

The devil’s children are fighting hard to keep as many prisoners from escaping through the opened front door of the prison house.

That’s right. You’ve heard me right.

Opened prison door.

Anyone in any sin could walk out of the front door of prison. However, it has a “sell by” date.

Your death or the coming of Jesus Christ, which ever one comes first.

Just repent, receive His forgiveness, be water baptized, and walk in obedience to the Word of God until death or His coming, to avoid the punishment of the pit of hell forever.

So when there is harassment to prevent the message of freedom from being expressed, the devil will pull out all the stops to silence the Word of God. One of these tactics is to place obscene or perverted statements which can corrode and desensitize a holy child of God.

Sadly, when the debate is filled with truth and light that the world cannot take, the devil’s children will resort to tactics of harassment, in an attempt to have the site removed because of the vulgarity of statements and other methods.

The way to combat this is to point out the uneven handedness of their Facebook rules. In legitimate Christ centered pages of Facebook, you will not find believers setting up pages and use vulgarity, porn scenes, obscene jestures, and cuss or curse words.

On the other hand, you will find clear violations of Facebook policies.

Millions of people use these social networks and they find the time to police Christ centered sites and pages. Yet, they cannot apply the same policing standards when it comes to other “sins” of Facebook.

The hypocrisy underscores the fact that darkness loves darkness but The Lord knows their every strategy. If light comes, it must be snuffed out. There is no way possible that a statement of policing from Facebook  will appease us because they cannot be trusted.

This means that when you use Facebook, just be prepared to be blocked, shut down, harassed, ridiculed, and pelted with the stones of cussing, cursing, profanity, vulgarity, and other obscene jestures to chase you and I away from Facebook.

However, it is not that easy. The Lord knows how to get His message across.

He said that He would fill the earth with His glory.

So where we are blocked, harassed, or where there are impediments, The Lord will direct us where the weakness is and go to make the truth known.

I’ll provide the link later, but go to the charismanews.com site and read “Help Me Stop Facebook-Approved Religious Harassment” by Dr. Michael Brown.

FALSE GRACE: A GOOD EXPLANATION WHY SECRET SEXUAL SINS IS EASY TO STAY IN

I came across a very fascinating interview with Sid Roth and Dr. Michael Brown.

They were discussing “false grace.”

First, false grace is taught as one that believes that the OT is no longer needed and because we are in the NT, grace completely replaced the law. This false grace doctrine may have similarities to the gospel of inclusion doctrine.

Anytime a doctrine leads away from sin and hell, it’s a false doctrine. Sin and hell, as taught by Jesus are consistent mainstay doctrines.

While the Lord Jesus came to set us free from sin, we must not continue in sin. Romans 6:1 is very clear. Paul said, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid!”

One of the most fascinating definitions that Dr. Brown gave on grace is the fact that in some places in the NT, grace, in the Greek, is unmerited favor, but in other places where grace was used, grace, in the NT, means God’s “empowerment” or enablement. It other words, God gives us supernatural ability to overcome temptation or other things that are against the nature of God.

That’s why when you hear “favor is not fair,” it’s about the prosperity mess………..I mean message, than about overcoming sin. Which is the original intent of grace to begin with.

The grace of God has more to do with developing the character of God by the help of the Holy Spirit than with getting away with sin.

The new birth is about a change of character or nature from sinner to a disciple of Christ.

For years, many of the faith teachers of the past erroneously taught that grace completely superseded the law. The law was fulfilled by the Lord Jesus when He died on the cross. Here is the reason. Many of these teachers believe that negative preaching or preaching about sin is no longer necessary because of grace. Coupled with this false grace teaching is the “righteousness of God” teaching. That’s because you are the righteousness of God, every promise of God is afforded you regardless of the way you live.

When a preacher preaches against sin, it is called negative preaching. The reason this is called negative preaching is because people do not want to hear about the sins they commit. Many believers run straight to Matthew 7:1 to run for cover.

But Proverbs 28:13 says,

“He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

You see, as long as your sins are not on the table, you feel safe to attend church. The seats stay filled. The moment that sin is discussed, it’s over. People will not go and the people there will not stay. That’s why positive confession and all that has more to do with making people feel good than correcting the areas that need correction.

Paul told Timothy. “Preach the Word! Be instant in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine. For they will heap up for themselves teachers, having tickling ears. They will turn away from the truth and turn unto fables.”

False grace is one of these fables.

Grace never gives us permission to sin. Grace helps us to overcome sin.

To receive the correction about false grace is the greatest fear of preachers because it’s now about money. When people come, money come. When people leave, money leave. So you want to preach a positive, uplifting, feel good mess………….I mean message.

Tagging along with this mess…………I mean message, is that the Lord loves you.

And yes, He loves you unconditionally. His unconditional love was demonstrated in the sending of His Son to die for our sins to set us free from sin, so we would not spend eternity in hell. His love is further expressed when He tells you the truth about your thoughts, deeds, and speech.

He exposes your sins through a series of means and methods when we resist the Holy Spirit.

Hypocrisy in the pulpit and in the pew is very destructive. When a pastor spends time in porn and masturbation, and then attempt to preach the Word, he or she will never discuss sin. If they do discuss sin, it most often will be in the second or third person. The thing that I love about the Lord is that for every David, there is a Nathan. As long as we remain in sin, because the Lord loves us, He will do everything to help us come out of sin, but there comes a point where the grace of God comes to assist you.

We sin willfully because we falsely believe that we would not get exposed like David did but it doesn’t negate the fact that our number may come up. We have established a false sense of security that the Lord wouldn’t expose us. It is arrogance and pride that fools the mind into staying longer in sin than intended.

As the prophet Moses said, “Be sure your sin will find you out.”

It’s just a matter of time. The intent is not to embarrass us but to help us. As Paul said, “For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged so we wouldn’t be condemned with the world.”

When the Lord send the Word to correct, rebuke, chastise, and admonish us, it is not pleasant as Hebrews 12:3-17 tells us.

And when we are not confronted about sin, we could easily hide like Adam and Eve did in the Garden. The Lord demands that we expose ourselves and the deeds we do so that we could be corrected.

As long as we pretend that the grace of God covers our faults, people never get free and remain in bondage.

That’s why it is easy to stay in Secret Sexual Sins. We could watch porn and masturbate, make the excuse that we are under grace, and continue in sin like God is good with it.

The Bible tells us in Romans 8:1-2 that “There is no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus who do not walk after the flesh but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

This is the reason behind why many people do not believe that repentance, holiness, sanctification, consecration, and righteousness is necessary.

However, we still need the foundation of the OT because there are tremendous examples of the NT writers where they used and quoted from the OT. If the OT weren’t necessary, they would not have quoted from it to anchor their points.

For instance, there are many men and women of God that commit adultery and they take a page out of David’s book. David, as you know committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband killed to cover his sin. In particular, many men hide behind David’s act and how God took away his sin. For the rest of David’s reign, he was chased by his own family. He wasn’t allowed to build the temple because he had much blood on his hands, including Uriah’s blood. He started as a shepherd boy, and ran for his life almost to the very end.

He was able to kill Goliath but the Goliath within him called sexual immorality, he could not kill.

The other thing that is interesting is that the sects of Judaism used the law to bring about “legalism.” Legalism is imposing stringent requirements upon the people that placed people in bondage as opposed to giving people liberty to serve the living God, free of sin. The whole intent of legalism is to glory in the works of the flesh apart from the enabling power of God to work the Word with the assistance of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 15 is a classic example of resolving legalism, along with the book of Hebrews.

No man could conquer sin on their own power or merits. We need to obey the Word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The law cannot give life but grace through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus gives life.
