Since covering the porn scene among professed believers and coming across mind numbing statistics, we see that nothing’s changed in terms of believers decreasing their exposure to sex filled movies, shows, and skin exposure in church services.
Porn watchers are enslaved to the images and enslaved to sexually manipulate him or herself in masturbation to satisfy themselves.
Porn is only an accelerant. More on this later.
The ability to be immodest is continuing in church service. The deliberate lack of discerning certain shows that what we expose ourselves to, is rampant.
In other words, we dethrone God to enthrone sin.
First, to address the modesty issue.
Men and women are exposing themselves to wearing certain articles to attract the opposite or same sex.
We all know that it’s summer time out there but it doesn’t give anyone the authorization and blatant excuse to wear things that we know are sexually provocative.
If you have to pull up your blouse to cover your cleavage, you know that this is a red flag. If you have to pull down your high skirt, you know it’s a red flag.
When you have to wear a cover to cover up your legs in church, it’s a red flag.
Now, this is not wrong to cover up in and of itself. At least you recognize that too much flesh is showing. It should be a very loud indication to you that perhaps your dress is a little too short.
Modern dressing doesn’t allow to look “old fashioned.”
It’s not fashionable these days. But holiness is the requirement when entering and participating in the holy worship of our Holy God.
As I was going street preaching one day, I walked by a “Seventh Day Adventist” Church and observed these red flags. I’m not an Adventist, so scratch that thought. I was walking by that church.
They appeared to be attending “church” but looked like they were going clubbing for men. Legs and cleavage.
A few years ago, I was listening to an interview of a believer interviewing a former prostitute. She said that in a well known mega church in California, female prostitutes would enter the service and sit in close proximity of their “client” while the client was sitting next to his wife.
She also said that there was no fear of God in the house of worship because the preacher would never preach on holiness.
Let me say this, that even if a preacher were preaching on holiness, for some, it will not make a difference.
If a person is bent on sinning sexually, only their death would stop them, unless they catch themselves and repent.
In the book of Numbers we see a story of Zimri and Cosbi.
Zimri was a leader and brought a Gentile woman into the camp against the commandment of the Lord. He and she walked by the Lord, the tabernacle of meeting, Moses, Aaron, and Phinehas.
At that time, the plague was moving throughout the camp because of sexual sin with the Moabites. Phinehas picked up a javelin, went into the tent where Zimri and Cosbi were, and killed them with one thrust of the javelin.
It stopped the plague and Phinehas was blessed by the Lord because the zeal of God within him judged the sin.
This was the “example” that Paul mentioned in 1 Corinthians 10.
In many of our regular Christian services, woman are wearing less and less. They are pushing the boundaries and men that aren’t disciplined will look at them lustfully.
Now we know that it is one thing to come to church sexually provocactive but when a man has lust in his heart, he doesn’t care what a woman is wearing. So there is two sides to this thing.
It’s not always one sided.
Intentional sexual dressing for church service to immorally tempt a man is more than provocative. It crosses the line of modesty where men, who are struggling to maintain their consecration to God are doing everything in their power to ignore them.
Feminine power to sexually influence a man immorally is demonic. It is passive manipulation. On the other hand, lust filled men is demonic and it is active manipulation. The collision course of the two brings death in their lives.
Most men do not know how to “bounce” their eyes to avoid looking at deliberate sexual provocation inside the service or outside as they are walking the streets.
But the sexually disciplined man will find a way to completely ignore these immoral women.
Not every woman that comes to church is immoral or deliberately intend to entice a man. There is holy women that come to church for the right reason and there are men that come to church, walking in wholehearted consecration and dedication to God.
But let’s face it.
Sexually immoral women will do everything to attract the attention of a foolish man.
Proverbs 7 speaks a such a man that went looking for sexual sin. The married, spiritually speaking adulteress found him and coerced him into her house.
It’s the same in today’s world of church service.
More and more, we are seeing an abandonment of morals and men diving into their house to commit adultery, homosexuality, bisexuality, and fornication.
But the door into sexual immorality has always been that the sexually suggestive tv ads, movies, and shows that introduce porn. The internet always have teaser ads next to the articles that you are reading. Reading the internet news is no different. The sexually suggestive ads draws a man’s attention. Photo shopped pictures increase the attractions in making pictures appear larger than normal.
Provers 27:20 says that “Hell and destruction are never full. So the eyes of a man are never satisfied.”
The Lord said to me as He was instructing me….”No sense in looking at someone that you can’t have. If I can’t have her, there is no sense in lustfully looking at her.”
Makes sense to me.
The basics of temptation are recorded in James 1:14-15.
A man is enticed when he is drawn away with his own lust-filled desires.
In other words, the moment he desires illegal sex, the enemy sends the enticement.
The enticement is a direct suggestion (temptation) to pursue that which is not lawful.
Sin is conceived in the desire to fulfill an evil fantasy. Sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.
That’s why in the church service, you have to be very careful not to allow your eyes to “travel” from the presence of the Lord.
Which brings me to emphasize again that the purpose of porn is no different than an accelerant for fire. When evil passion is in the heart of a man, he will go to places to fulfill that evil passion. Acting out sexually in adultery, fornication, bisexuality, homosexuality, and masturbation, or all of the above.
So be careful about the movies that you expose yourself to.
Radical amputation is the ability to cut off the right hand and pluck out the right eye to avoid sexual sins. If you are not willing to do without movies, you run the risk of being so overwhelmed with lust that you deliberately fall into sin.
This article on “Game of Thrones” is powerful.
Please click the link here.
There was an article written by Dr. Michael Brown that shared about a man attending a pastor’s wife’s birthday party. The pastor was the DJ and played worldly secular music with vulgar language.
The wife of the pastor danced to the music, according to the article, as if she were a stripper in a strip club.
I read an article called “The Seamless Fabric” a few years ago and porn, masturbation, strip clubs, prostitution, sex trafficking for the sex trade, child kidnapping, drugs, alcohol, and other things are inseparable. Also porn stars are prostitutes.
The low pay that porn stars receive, between 150 and 350 for 16 hours of work obviously is not enough. These low end porn stars prostitute themselves and get paid within the range of 1000 and 3000 dollars for one hour’s work.
Years ago when I was involved in porn and masturbation, I deliberately deceived myself into thinking that when I did porn that it was disconnected from all the other things listed above.
When I bought PPV porn, I didn’t realize that my 14.99 paid the porn producer, the drugs she may have used on the set to help her cope through the rape scenes, the gas for the vehicles of kidnapers. Everyone gets a piece of the pie when you pay.
You may not think so. When you are so deceived, it is very easy to compartmentalize, trivialize, and separate what you are doing from the crimes committed while attempting to please yourself.
I said all this to get you to see that if the pastor’s wife is acting in this manner, it is clear that her husband may have serious connections to the underworld. In fact, it is possible that they watch porn together. While I do not have facts to back up my claim, based on preponderance, there is a clear possible connection.
I could be wrong.
Today, there are many professed believers that believe that it is perfectly fine to sin because of “grace.”
Grace didn’t deliver you from sin to commit more sin. Grace delivered you as a favor from God to give to you eternal salvation that you do not deserve.
Then grace works in you to abstain from sin (see Romans 6:1).
Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.”
In other words, there is no amount of works that could ever save us. We do not abstain from sin as a work to get into the kingdom. We work righteousness as a result of the Lord giving us the power to abstain.
A lightbulb is powerless until it is placed in the lamp stand with the power turned on.
It can’t work until it is hooked up to power.
Such it is with grace. Our salvation need power that can only come from God. If a lightbulb could work without power, there would be no need to be hooked up.
These pastors and others sin because Romans 3:18 says, “They have no fear of God before their eyes.”
When you have no fear of God before your eyes, it is very easy to say….from Ezekiel 8:12 “Then He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’”
When you deceive yourself into saying that the Lord doesn’t see you, and you are not afraid to sin against God, Ecclesiastes 8:11 says, “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”
So because there is no fear of God in the eyes of the pastor and his wife, there is no question that there is no fear of God before the eyes of those that watch porn while God watches you.
There was a time that I had no regard for God and His Word. I preached it but I didn’t live it. In hypocrisy I lived. While I was watching porn and masturbating (because no one watches porn and not masturbate), God was watching with me. If I had any sense, which I didn’t, I could feel the grief of God. But also, I could just only imagine the rage of jealousy in His eyes as another lover consumed me.
I played the harlot. Spiritual adultery. I was unfaithful to God. I allowed another lover to take my heart.
Upon reading this title, some of you probably thought that God approves. We are all human and he understands our flesh. They were just having fun at a party. It’s just a party. Don’t we have a right to party?
What a poor excuse.
When you cast of restraint, the church loses its testimony as a house of righteousness and holiness.
Proverbs 29:18 says “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.”
The Amplified Bible says. “Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man] —blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.”
The same thing happened at Shiloh. The ark of the covenant was taken, God uses Eli’s weight to kill him, Hophni and Phinehas committed sexual immorality and lost their lives in battle, Phinehas’ wife gives birth to Ichabod and dies during child birth.
The glory departed.
The eyes of Eli grew dim and it was indicative of this Scripture…..1 Samuel 3:1-3a “And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision. And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was…”
When people can’t see or when people refuse to see because they cast off restraint, the light goes out. Eli was a leader and if the leader can’t see, the people can’t see either. Or if the leader refuses to see, the people will refuse to see too.
This is self deception that suppresses the knowledge of the truth. As I read the article, many will read into this and feel outraged that a pastor and his wife would do such a thing. But one thing that I’ve noticed is that while there was some words addressing the grace of God and other issues, the one thing that was missing, and I could be wrong, was the lack of the fear of God.
No one is afraid of God any more.
I understand that it is easy to apply “legalism” to this statement about the fear of God but look very carefully at the time Israel provoked the Lord and you will see the hot displeasure of the Lord.
Fast forward this into the NT, and we do not see the hot displeasure of the Lord except with Ananias and Sapphira. We also see this with Herod when he was eaten of worms. Then there is Elymas the sorcerer that was blinded for withstanding the gospel. In each instance, “great fear” came upon the believers.
In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul mentioned about taking communion unworthily or in the wrong manner, and that all who do so end up “sick, weak, and fall asleep,” because they didn’t “judge themselves.”
In this dispensation of grace, we see that the Lord is still serious about the fear of the Lord. Look at the book of Revelation and we will see that in chapters 1 through 3, the Lord is still dealing with the church when 5 of 7 churches allowed certain worldly doctrines to infiltrate the “called out ones.”
There is only one reason why false doctrine infiltrates the church.
No fear of God.
We begin to teach strange doctrine that Paul warned us about in Galatians chapter 1, Acts 20, and 1 Timothy 1.
In 1 Corinthians Paul turns over a member of the church to satan for the destruction of the flesh that they may be saved because this man had his father’s wife. An incestuous relationship not even heard of in the world and it happened in the church. Paul does it again in 2 Timothy to those that blasphemed so that people would be afraid to sin against the Lord because two men brought in a cancerous doctrine.
Paul also said to Timothy to rebuke the elders that sin so that others would be afraid to sin.
Clearly, these doctrines are missing today because there is no fear of God before our eyes.
In the same manner, when it comes to sexual sins, we “invent” doctrines to either justify and or permit our indulgence in the sins we, as the late pastor David Wilkerson would say, “made a covenant with.”
Making a covenant with sins demands that you either suppress the truth of the Scriptures or use a perverted twist of the Scriptures to continue in sin.
Covenant with sin demands that you walk into the house of the Lord without any fear to commit sin. That’s why it is easy for pastors, and their wives to have these lewd parties.
Romans 13:13 “Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.”
The sad thing is that there were probably members of the church that were there. According to this article, other pastors and their wives were there. There is no question about 2 Peter 3:3-4 “…knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
They are not ready for the coming of the Lord. They are scoffers or mockers that mock the coming of the Lord.
Matthew 24:43-44 says “But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
And that’s where there is an absence of the fear of the Lord. They do not think that Jesus is coming back, so they begin to live riotously.
Matthew 24:48-51 “But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
We pray that they would repent and return to the Lord. To produce godly sorrow for grieving the Lord. To come back to obedience to the faith before the Lord returns.
The story about the pastor and his wife could be read here.
It’s part of the evil menu of satanic temptation.
Women that look to lure a holy man of God into the bedroom or hotel room which ultimately leads both of them down the steps into hell.
Many women feel that they are the victim all of the time. It is true that lusting pastors look to take advantage of an emotionally damaged woman but when you look at the other side of the situation, in her vulnerability, she will fall into temptation just as easily as a lust filled pastor.
While many will argue about it, it is clear that satan always look to use someone to trip up a pastor.
Especially holy men of God that is disciplined in the Word and the Lord.
And satan will use a perverted pastor to trip up a holy woman of God. This is a two way street.
What’s also lurking in the house of worship are homosexual plants. They too are on the lookout for lust filled same sex with people in leadership.
Sexual immorality is a critical sign of the last days. As Secret and Overt Sexual Sins increase in the world, where there is no discipline in the pastor and in people in the church, we will watch these things intensify. That’s why the pastor must take heed before they find themselves overwhelmed with sin.
It’s not worth going to hell over.
Being that this is the most prevalent sexual sin in the church that gets immediate attention, that is, seductive women coming into the church to take out a pastor or a pastor luring unstable emotional women, we see that we must institute absolute disciple to escape the corruption.
A male pastor, whether married or single, must enforce a strict discipline upon himself. We cannot stop women from coming to church, dressed provocatively. In most cases, we can’t prevent them from sitting in certain high visible places where there is a clear line of sight. We can’t prevent most after service contact or interaction between pastors and women.
Every male pastor is different. Some pastors allow themselves to be available to females for counseling and other forms of interaction. Some pastors interact with females after service during “meet and greets.” These seemingly innocent interactions are also potential seed planting grounds where “attraction and enticement” unsuspectingly takes its course.
If there is no caution, prevention, or discipline, it’s just a matter of time before innocent contact turns into deliberate sexual immorality.
But interaction and professional contact could be maintained.
Two elements must be discussed.
- Attraction to power.
- Attraction to beauty.
In many church services, the preacher is the main event. Sadly, his personality and emotional energy is an attraction to women. At the same time, some, not all women, preconceive in their minds what to wear to attract a pastor with her beauty.
A few years ago, I was attending a service and after the service, a young woman in a tight fitting, low cleavage, knee high dark blue dress walked up to a married elder in his church. He and I drove to his church that morning. I knew what this was. It was a set up. It doesn’t take much to see a trap walking.
How he handles his emotions after the service is the tale of the tape.
It is during these times that he is emotionally vulnerable. This is where he can forget that he just handled the Word of God. If he fails to maintain his holiness in the Lord, it is very easy to cross the line and engage in inappropriate behavior that leads to sexual sin.
The moments after the service is over is where he feels powerful. This is where the four “E’s” of ministry come into play.
It’s very easy to operate in the soul and transfer all that “power” into sexuality.
Male sexuality and male sexual drive is at its peak and if a man is not careful, it is not long before he will engage.
Let’s explain the four “E’s.”
When you have preached a message that is powerful, you feel that you are in an elite class or status. Top of the world, so to speak. This place of elitism is also called pride. It is there that women will applaud you or give you encouragement. Whether it is innocent or deliberate, you must guard your heart. This is not to put women down but it is meant to be on guard for the intent.
After receiving that “compliment” you feel empowered.
Like you are the most powerful man on earth.
Then you deceive your heart into thinking that you’re entitled to anything.
Then you operate in expediency – “(of an action) convenient and practical, although possibly improper or immoral:”
So when James 1:14-15 is in operation, it spells doom.
How do you avoid this?
It all depends upon you.
To what lengths are you willing to go to protect what God gave you?
Will you be Joseph or will you be Job? Will you be Ahab or will you be Samson? Or will you be like Jesus?
Joseph escaped but he was in the right place taking care of Pharaoh’s business but in close proximity to Pharaoh’s wife at the wrong time. Job said that he never lusted with his eyes in the 31st chapter. Ahab gave himself over to Jezebel, even though he was married to her. Samson had lust in his heart. Jesus had sexual disciple among women.
So how do you avoid deliberate feminine seduction?
If you are a single pastor and women approach you, if you have a trusted elderly woman in the house, ask her to deal with the younger women in church.
Notice Paul’s instruction to Titus in the second chapter of this epistle.
Titus 2:1-5 “But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things — that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”
If the younger women insist that they see the male pastor, it is a signal that must not be ignored. Not every young woman is looking to “score” like men are looking to “score,” but it is best to err on the side of good judgment and as a male pastor, insist that she see an older woman for counseling.
Most pastors have female secretaries. This is where the most interaction gets very personal and close. And this is where the most trip ups occur. Depending upon the size of the church, the need for a secretary will vary but this is also the very place where more attention must be paid in terms of sexual discipline. Not every female secretary is looking to score. But when a lust filled pastor or secretary is vulnerable, they will attempt to take advantage.
It’s not always during church service that interaction is occurring. Seduction can happen during the week with staff people.
In closing, we need to pay more attention to our marriages if you are a married pastor. The enemy is looking to devour you and your family. It’s not just the pastor that the devil wants to destroy. The devil will destroy the mistress, the wife, and the kids. The devil is not satisfied until there is complete destruction. So be on your guard at all times.
If you are single, you need to pay attention to your surroundings and maintain your sanctification.
Otherwise, you are another sad story for others to read about.
1 Peter 5:8-9a “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…”
Leviticus 19:29-31 (NKJVS)
“Do not prostitute your daughter, to cause her to be a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry, and the land become full of wickedness.
“You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the Lord.
“Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.“
Hosea 4:7-12 “The more they increased, The more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame. They eat up the sin of My people; they set their heart on their iniquity. And it shall be: like people, like priest.
So I will punish them for their ways, and reward them for their deeds. For they shall eat, but not have enough; they shall commit harlotry, but not increase; because they have ceased obeying the Lord.
The Idolatry of Israel “Harlotry, wine, and new wine enslave the heart. My people ask counsel from their wooden idols, and their staff informs them. For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray, and they have played the harlot against their God.”
While these are OT Scriptures, the moral laws are still applicable in the Body of Christ.
Here is a raw paraphrase…….form the Message Bible.
A paraphrase is not a word for word translation from the original Hebrew or Greek/Aramaic/Latin language into English.
In layman’s terms, it’s just another way of saying……“in other words.”
“The more priests, the more sin. They traded in their glory for shame. They pig out on my people’s sins. They can’t wait for the latest in evil. The result: You can’t tell the people from the priests, the priests from the people.
I’m on my way to make them both pay and take the consequences of the bad lives they’ve lived. They’ll eat and be as hungry as ever, have sex and get no satisfaction.
They walked out on me, their God, for a life of rutting with whores. “Wine and whiskey leave my people in a stupor. They ask questions of a dead tree, expect answers from a sturdy walking stick. Drunk on sex, they can’t find their way home. They’ve replaced their God with their genitals.”
When the false Prosperity Gospel came, we did increase (not according to the will of God), but simultaneously, we’ve increased into more perversion.
As I was scrolling on FB, there was a praise and worship group, mostly women. But this one “Praiser” was wearing the attire of a harlot. High heels, stilettos, no doubt, and cleavage that left no room for imagination. We are seeing this trend of tight jeans too, both male and female.
It seems to me that “come as you are” is for real.
People are coming into the house of worship not dressed to worship God but in the spirit of the harlot to attract opposite or same sex people.
IF the right kind of worldly music is played, there is no doubt in my mind that under the influence of the spirit of the harlot, some of these women will strip right in the house of worship. Men will strip right in the house of worship and an orgy would be underway.
It’s happened in one church in NJ where a pastor engaged in a threesome….a pastor, his wife, and a male deacon………in the house of worship, in a secluded part of the house of God.
Pick up your jaw from the floor.
We know that child molestation is almost a common thing in the house of worship.
Pastor Sharon Daughtery’s church…..Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, OK, her daughter was involved in covering up child molestation a couple of years ago. The ex-male employee was given a 55 year prison sentence for “forcible oral sodomy of a child, lewd molestation….and other crimes.
And some of you married oral and anal sex proponents need strong deliverance from these unclean spirits.
Lewdness is now the new sacred (see Jude 4).
Many women will argue that this is the way the world is dressing and there is nothing out there except these kinds of clothes.
When you have to drape your legs, it is an indication that your dress is inappropriate to wear for a worship service. In one place, and even in many places, at the front row, unless it was the pastor’s wife, ladies are showing too much leg. And even if it is the pastor’s wife, when the cameras are panning and they capture you, the first thing that is noticeable are your legs.
Folks, I’ve have concluded that most of the houses of worship is no longer operating in the fear of the Lord. What is happening is that we have forsaken decorum. It’s almost as if we need to keep the cameras off of people and keep it on the pulpit. Even pastors are losing it. Wearing muscle shirts in vests, wearing no jackets. Wearing tight jeans.
These are clear signs that lewdness may be prevalent in the house of worship and most pastors are not taking action.
Brothers…..pastors…..bishops……where is the common sense?
There are many reasons why “legalism” is utter bondage where the policing of everything we do got out of hand. However, there is just some things that is just common sense. What we wear can incite lust. What we see can incite lust. What we think about can incite lust. If what we say, wear, and do provokes someone to lust, we need to make corrections to avoid causing others to fall into sin.
We all know that there are women preachers on the stage wearing stilettos, and strutting their stuff like they are on the red carpet. With no shame.
Hoping that males would drool and women would be envious and jealous.
EX Ministries brought out some serious revelation about the purpose of the red carpet that it is used as a place to worship the gods.
But from Wikipedia, we find these words…..
“The earliest known reference to walking a red carpet in literature is in the play Agamemnonby Aeschylus, written in 458 BC. When the title character returns from Troy, he is greeted by his vengeful wife Clytemnestra who offers him a red path to walk upon:
“Now my beloved, step down from your chariot, and let not your foot, my lord, touch the Earth. Servants, let there be spread before the house he never expected to see, where Justice leads him in, a crimson path.” Agamemnon, knowing that only gods walk on such luxury, responds with trepidation…..”
Even though this was a play, yet, we see that there may be some truth about the worship of gods in the red carpet. Look at all the dignitaries that go to certain high profile places and you will more than likely see the “red carpet treatment.”
So when you watch the Oscars and other high class world events, and people are afforded the VIP treatment of walking on the red carpet, know for sure that it is the worshipping of gods.
And we know that many people that claim to be professed believers have strut their “stuff” on that carpet. Women all over the world are watching who is wearing what.
And looking like a………..god or goddess, even calling themselves…..divas.
Women are stimulated by touch but they like to see too.
There are two reality shows that came to my attention.
“Preacher’s EX” or something like that and “Preacher’s Daughters.”
All you see is female flesh. The spirit of the harlot is not infiltrating the house of worship. The spirit of the harlot is a stronghold in the house of worship. You see, when you feel good in church, something may be amiss. When there is no conviction, not all of the time, but a spiritual check up of the convicting power of the Holy Spirit as the Word of God is preached, your sin may be safe.
In these reality shows, you see women that were once pastor’s wives, or divorced from their preacher husbands, they go out clubbing, dressing like a whore, cussing, drinking, living like the world. And do not get me wrong. Whatever happened may have triggered a “tit for tack.”
“My former husband did this to me and I am going to have my time.”
However, this is no excuse for sinning against the Lord.
The deliberate intent to wear provocative clothing and hunting for male or female companionship to help “heal” wounds of the current or past is no excuse. The Bible tells us the that body was not created for fornication but for the Lord. We must understand that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Lord can heal us more ways than we hurt.
All we are doing is hurting ourselves more instead of allowing God to heal us. Using anarchy as a means to use illicit sex as a pharmacy.
But what is worse is that lust was in the heart and mind of male and females and we just look for an excuse to “let it loose.”
The Bible is clear that when you sow to the flesh, you shall reap of the flesh corruption (see Galatians 6:7-8).
All of a sudden, we feel that we could walk out on God to justify the sins of the flesh because someone did you wrong? That proves that sin was lurking and sometimes, for some folk, all they need is a little justification to let it all hang out. What’s worse is that this same attitude is brought into the worship service and the hook ups begin.
The power of femininity lurks in almost every local house of worship. The only intent of the power of femininity is to bring a man under their spell. It is a form of witchcraft to pull a man from a place of discipline into her arena of perversion. And men that fall for their seduction are mighty men that were slain by them. These men never recover and their shame follows them to the grave.
The spirit of the harlot is unleashed in places where a move of God is pending or the move of God is in full gear. What happens is that people are unsuspecting of the spirit of the harlot.
What is also lurking among men is the spirit of lust. Where in the privacy of their minds and their bedroom, in the fantasy sex play room, they “play with themselves” to climax.
Or worse, they hook up with the spirit of the harlot in a woman, they join themselves in fulfilling the desires of the flesh and mind where sin is conceived, and brings forth death.
Then there is the preacher’s daughters that live in “youthful lusts.”
They act like the world in imaginable ways, with ease.
Their dads are supposedly living godly lives but these teenage girls are living lascivious lives.
Wearing provocative clothing and acting like strippers in the streets and other venues.
These things ought not to be but they are happening in the house of worship.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18, 7:1. Is its only remedy.
It’s time to come out from among them and be separate or be destroyed with them (see Revelation 21:7, 22:11).
When you talk about other ministers and their ministries, I find it very uncomfortable to do so because other ministers should never talk disparagingly about other ministers. However, in light of the truth, it is not about being malicious and it is not about jealousy of another “successful” preacher.
This video by EXMinistries with G. Craige Lewis and Tetuan Moffett is perhaps, the most detailed and painful pieces of exposing such ministers and their ministries that I have ever witnessed.
The facts and the truth is undeniable and if you were ever wondering whether or not to trust TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Rick Warren, and any other compromised ministers, wonder no more.
After today, if you are still a “touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm” kind of believer, at the very end of this video, listen to G. Craige Lewis’ statement. Below is a link to this powerful show.
Many will say that this is extreme but when God demands no other gods to be before Him, and that we are to enter in by the straight and narrow, and that Jesus is the only way, when preachers depart this absolute…..
2 Corinthians 6:17 says, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.”
For a long time, I’ve been wrestling with this. I wrestle no more. If you are going to two step around this, I will disassociate you faster than the top of your eyelid hits the bottom. I will walk away from you quickly. I will not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness and neither will I fellowship with co-conspirators of perversion.
At Megafest, Oprah Winfrey, the demonically inspired high priestess will be there. There is no question in my mind that many people will go there unsuspecting of her witchcraft and they will be filled with perversion. Many “so called” gospel artists will be there as well as worldly hip hop artists. But the killer behind this is what will take place behind the scenes. If the gospel artists and hip hop artists are going to be there, know for sure that drugs, sexual immorality, perversion, alcohol, prostitution, and homosexual hook ups will take place there.
In the hotel rooms, porn and masturbation thirsty pastors will be there. Many people will be under the spell of sexual immorality. If we could see the porn purchases for this Megafest and if we could find out how many pastors and believers will delve into it, it would make your head swim.
Some will say, that this is just non sense. This isn’t going to happen. Think again.
Four years ago, I said that I no longer put it past professed believers. No more benefit of the doubt. Professed believers are capable of any thing and every thing, at any time. We can worship like we’ve been in the presence of the Lord all our lives and snort cocaine. We can have hands raised to God and use these same hands to play with ourselves and masturbate.
That’s right. No holds barred. God is not pleased with this and just because you act holy on Sunday doesn’t mean you will be holy on Monday.
God never blessed this and like the prophet said to Asa, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly…..”
When TD Jakes brought in Oprah Winfrey to teach her demonically inspired “Life Class,” you are opening the door to seducing spirits and doctrine of devils.
The topic of discussion at the Life Class will be “Fatherlessness.” As commendable a topic as this is, sometimes you have to look behind the scenes to understand what else is at stake. When you are looking and listening to things without the Word of God, you need someone that “preaches.” What better person to bring or have on the stage than TD Jakes. This is called endorsement. You could either say something or say nothing. Your presence is an endorsement.
Oprah didn’t invite TD Jakes, Jakes invited Oprah however, we know who was running the show.
In a nut shell, how do you solve the problem with “fatherlessness?”
The Bible says, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
What does being born again have to do with this?
A lot. A person’s nature must change. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Fornicators and adulterers is responsible for a majority of children being fatherless. However, people will not come to the Savior. They will not come to the place where a person’s nature could be changed.
Correct me if I am wrong, but during the show, did we hear anything about a person’s nature being changed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ? You see, when you do anything without God, everything is destined to fail. There may be some resolution, do not misunderstand me, but it is with man’s own graceless efforts. Man always want to do things without God. This is because man wants to make the rules and completely exclude the rule of God. This way, sin could be committed.
As long as we are on this planet and as long as fornication and adultery is still being committed, you will have more fatherlessness or worse. A child killed in the womb.
When you depend upon Oprah Winfrey to mesmerize the people away from God, as the prophet finished his sentence……“therefore from now on you shall have wars.”
The places where you thought you can climb out of will surround you. The people that were against you shall now prevail against you. The battles that you thought you’d win, and the victories you counted on will escape from you. The enemy was on the ropes but God will allow them to prevail against you. The defenses you thought were secure are now done away with. Your praise of God has turned into worship of idols. Your worship of God is now a worship of perversion.
Your connections to any hint of these people will drive you mad. Your evil pursuits are now your exposed agenda. Everything right about you in the past will mean nothing for the wrong your are now in.
Look at this video and judge for yourself.
IF you can easily push aside the fact that TD Jakes and all of them connected to false doctrine is still in the kingdom and preaching for God, I say to you that you have lost your ever living mind and you need to get saved. For the moment you exalt a man above God to protect any thing that God is against, you are an antichrist.
Look at this video.
Just to reiterate, I did not vote in the last presidential election because neither candidate appealed to me because of their stand on abortion and the sin of homosexuality and same sex unions.
These two positions go crosswise of the Word of God.
Standing on the side of God is better than erring on the side of voting for either candidate unwilling to choose the side of God and His Word.
Voting for either candidate is an endorsement the continuation of sin in the nation.
However, it’s not just from the political realm. We must remember that the influence of the most powerful place on earth has significantly deteriorated. The voice of righteousness in the church is no longer a moral voice, but a weak, tied in between the pillars church. Our eyes are gouged out and we are crying like a wounded pup.
The influence of the church is almost non existent, let alone, even heard when the church speaks. For we are a laughing stock of hypocrites. We call sin good. We take pleasure in those that commit sin and we love sin more than we love God. The entire church is not in this condition. There are many that never bowed their knee to Baal. The remnant recognizes that to turn away from the Lord now is the wrong move.
We must stay true and faithful to Him even if the rest walk away.
This being said, the next four years is going to be about the after affects of the positions of sin. When you deliberately set yourself against the known will of God, your fate is sealed. The further entrenching of the sin of homosexuality, the economic fallout, and the continued moral decay and decline of a once powerful nation will continue unless there is a definitive miracle of God working in the church.
Many of you have heard of the term “a turn for the worse.”
We are not just talking about the deteriorating financial conditions. The outward conditions of a decline have been in place for the last 11 years. Outward conditions are usually indicative of inward spiritual conditions.
The heart of man, where all activity occurs, determines the direction of the church and the community it’s supposed to righteously influence. I no longer say spiritually influence because people in the church could be demonically influenced. We do have double agents and sleeper cell people in the church. They are also called tares.
The proof of righteous people in the church is found in those that obey the Lord and His Word.
Jesus said in John 8:31-36 these words.
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered Him, We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, You will be made free? Jesus answered them, Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
Your freedom is not found in committing sin. You really don’t know that the devil is taking you on a ride of destruction, using your free moral will to express his sinful desire through you. True freedom is found in doing what Jesus said. If you are a true disciple, you will stay free from sin.
God is not looking for you to be perfect. He is looking for you to look to the perfect law of liberty where Christ has made you free. Obey that perfect law of liberty and never look to deliberately defy God again. Some of you all will remember when you had arguments with your parents and your parents demanded that you not leave the house to go to a party. You got so mad that you defied that order and snuck out the house anyway.
You knew that when you got back, there would be stuff to pay. Just as sure as the sun rises in the east, they were waiting for you.
When you refuse to do the Word of God, you are not a disciple of Jesus. When you choose to obey the Word of God, you will prove your love for Him by doing what He said. If you cannot do what He said, you are not a disciple.
This is what the Lord Jesus said in Luke 14:33.
“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.”
Forsaking “all that he has” means walking away from whatever holds you from fulling committing to Jesus. The parable of the sower is the gauge that determines whether you are a true disciple or not. When you are on good ground, it’s clear that you are a true disciple because you are producing fruit. When you are not producing fruit, you are on the wayside, stoney, or thorny ground.
This is proof that your discipleship in Christ is non existent.
However, it doesn’t have to be that way. At anytime you can simply move to good ground where production is guaranteed or you can stay where you are.
The choice is yours.
As man continues to decline and decay spiritually, the outward conditions of the United States will continue to decline. However, man will be resilient to ride the wave of disaster after disaster. The window dressing to make it appear as if nothing is wrong has been the bandaid on a gapping wound. It reminds me of the situation with Sandy.
You all remember Sandy?
The Weather Channel and the National Weather Service indicated with strong evidence and words that NYC will be hit with a surge. Mayor Bloomberg completely ignored the report. The Weather Channel was shocked that the mayor would not warn the people along the coast that they would be hit with the brunt of the storm. The mayor reluctantly reversed course.
This is the kind of attitude we have with the world. They can stand outside, look at a disaster and say the sun is shining when we all see that the sky is filled with darkness. So it is with this generation spiritually. You can call it what you want, but we all know that the dark hearts and minds of people will only see sunshine during a storm.
No one wants an economic disaster. No one wants to see people suffer. No one wants to watch children suffer.
However, when you walk away from God, all who walk away from God must suffer. The Lord is not going to make you accept His terms. The Lord will let you make up your mind.
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
If you study the OT, you will see that when the children of Israel declined to walk in the ways of the Lord, the consequential judgment lasted for years. Decades even.
When the right ways of the Lord are perverted, we are left to our own devices.
The world does not like Jesus and His Word. They want to remake Him into the kind of Savior they want.
The world does not believe that Jesus is a Judge.
Jesus said, that He did not “come into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.”
When did Jesus come into the world?
When He was born of the virgin Mary. However, He was crucified and then resurrected from the dead. He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Paul said these words in 2 Timothy 4:8.
“Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
When the Day of the Lord comes, no one will be able to stand.
These next four years, we will see people that were once in the faith turn away. We’ve seen this already with Carlton Pearson, John Swilley, and many others. We’ve seen questionable doctrine preached and people’s faith subverted. The Word of Faith movement wasn’t as it was supposed to be. A “Let the good times roll” gospel. Also known as the gospel of prosperity.
We’ve seen many in the gospel music industry turn from the Lord. We’ve seen many homosexuals come out from the closet. Many that are involved as music ministers are living double lives. They appear anointed but are perverted. Some are just promiscuous porn perverts, bound to act out sexually in either prostitutes, girl/boy friends or both. They are addicted to self gratification, commonly called masturbation, addicted to the lusts of the flesh, eyes, and mind. Some are caught in the homosexual scene where they hook up on Saturday night but show up on the keyboard on Sunday morning with no fear of God before their eyes.
They’ve turned their backs on the Lord, some never to return.
Pastors are divorcing their wives to marry their same sex partner and install them as their First Gentleman or First Man. Deacons, elders, bishops, apostles and other title people are sleeping with sexually immoral women. We’ve seen well known and obscure pastors live double lives. Pastoral bisexuality is no longer a surprising thing. It is almost expected.
Perversion in the pulpit is almost a regular occurrence. Where the people know that the pastor is committing adultery with everyone willing to go to the defiled bed of perversion. Secret Sexual Sins is now Open Sexual Sins.
In most people’s minds, it’s to be expected for this is the progressive church.
Gay bishops. It’s common now. They will ordain other homosexual people and they will preach with seemingly great power and authority, but we know that the Lord is not in league with the very thing He detests.
Look at your flamboyant preachers. They look like they could do no wrong. Look closely, though and you will see all sorts of lewdness and perversion rise out of their hearts. You will see the people he or she preaches to applaud and hold their leader up. If they are criticized for walking in sin, they will use Psalm 105:15 on you. They will tell you to take your mouth off of their pastor living in sin. They will defend sin faster than righteousness.
They will always defend indefensible positions.
Sin is never defendable for the Lord condemned sin in the flesh of Jesus.
When they defend the commission of sin in a pastor faster than defending the righteousness of God, you now know who their king and kingdom is.
Perverted preachers and pastors preach really good but live like dogs in a filthy kennel. They rape and decimate the church they are supposed to tend; nurture, guard, guide, and fold the flock of God.
It is one hot mess, and the further decline and erosion of the true faith of Christ is anticipated to continue. These are the last days. The people that you all thought would remain in Christ may surprise some of you and defect to the camp of devils and demons.
We must remember, this is the apostasy that Paul warned of.
It is important for you to “be even more diligent to make your call and election sure.”
Make doubly sure that you do not fall away from the faith.
If your best friend do not want to go with God, let them turn into a pillar of salt. Do not look back. Stay true to the Lord no matter what. Even when it feels good, you better check your feelings at the door and know the Word of God for yourself.
In these last days, we want to take everyone with us, but be prepared to go alone if you have to. Not everyone wants to go to heaven. Many that are children of the devil are children of hell, and they desire to take you with them.
Only the crowd will go to hell. But you enter by the straight and narrow way. It’s tight and getting tighter. It’s right and getting righter. If you do not make it, just remember, you read it here or somewhere else that you had your shot, and you walked away at the wrong time.
I can’t help but see this almost every time in certain places. Such places like World Changers, with Creflo Dollar, Leroy Thompson of Ever Increasing Word Ministries, and Eddie Long, of New Birth Missionary Baptist.
Anytime the place is in an emotional uproar, people start coming up to the pulpit to give money.
During the 2012 New Year’s Service at Eddie Long’s church, an emotional frenzy was in full swing and people started coming up to give money.
Since pastoring for 19 years, I’ve learned some things and I’ve made some critical adjustments regarding membership, tithes, and offerings.
As a pastor myself, I believe in tithes and offerings.
However, I do not do it out of compulsion or command, but I do it out of my covenant relationship with the Lord like Abram.
I believe that we should never look down upon people that tithe and we should never look down on people that do not tithe. It’s not a heaven and hell issue. God has been so good to me that I will honor Him with my best. The level of my best is determined by me paying my tithes.
Now, many will say then you need to follow all the OT rules of tithing.
No. I’m not buying cattle and there is no temple or Levites to give them to. And I am not a Hebrew.
So why tithe?
It’s my business between the Lord and I. I do not impose this on anyone from the pulpit. If they choose to tithe, it’s their business. I will not check their records to see who is tithing. I used to check, but that’s witchcraft and covetousness.
I also believe that the moment that the Lord cannot pay for its expenses through the people He sends, that it is time to close its doors forever. I will never beg, borrow, or manipulate anyone to keep open something that the Lord no longer wants open.
I believe that pastors should not use any form of manipulation to coerce people to give to a pastor or a ministry. The one thing that I do believe in is that a church should live within its means. Also, I believe that what the Lord calls for, He provides for through people whom He sent to be a part of that ministry.
I have also changed my way of thinking about membership. We are the Body of Christ, and members in particular.
There are many people that demand loyalty to a local church and its pastor. There is nothing in Scripture that gives anyone the right to demand loyalty by membership. We do see in the NT a command to be a part of a local church. We are baptized into one Body. The true identity of the local church is not found in activities and events. The true identity of the local church is found in people living the life of Jesus for the world to see, and to be a vocal witness and testimony to those that live in darkness. Membership should never be by manipulation or coercion.
We do see that those that have the call of God upon their lives must be examined and ordained, but we do not have any criteria for local church membership.
What we see is that it is important that people be a part of the local church. They should go through some sort of structured “indoctrination” to know what this local church is about based on the Bible, in terms of tenets of faith, and discipleship in Christ. They should know what the pastor believes and what to expect in a local church. Each local church is different and we should never impose upon people certain things that fail Scriptural support.
Besides, pastors do not own the sheep, the flock of God. We are automatically disqualified because we didn’t die on the cross for people. Our sinful blood doesn’t qualify.
First, tithes and offerings.
Tithing was first seen in the Scriptures with Abram after he returned from the slaughter of the kings who took Lot as hostage. Upon returning from the battle, Melchizedek brought Abram bread and wine, and Abram gave Melchizedek ten percent of the spoils of war. We’ve never seen in Scripture that Abram tithed before or after this incident. Please note that Melchizedek was high priest of Salem, and in Hebrews chapter 7, the Lord Jesus would have a ministry after the order of Melchizedek. Please note that bread and wine are emblems of communion, which was used at the last supper of Jesus.
You can’t make this up.
We also see that God did bless Abram before he left Ur of the Chaldees with material wealth. There is no record that Abram tithed when he was in Ur. Therefore to speculate would be error. We can only say that it is possible that Abram tithed because we lack solid Biblical evidence.
Jacob vowed to tithe after he named the place Bethel where he observed the angels of the Lord ascending and descending. This was commonly called, “Jacob’s Ladder.”
We do not hear of tithing until the law of Moses where the nation was instructed to pay tithes to the Levites because no land would be given to them as an inheritance to this tribe. They were exclusively a tribe for the service of the tabernacle of the Lord. The Levites didn’t have to do anything but service.
It is important to note that when the children of Israel were exiled to Babylon that when it was time to return, Ezra and Nehemiah would lead the way. When they were just about to finish the task, they ran into a problem. The prophet Haggai gave a word that revealed a problem. The wall was rebuilt but the temple remained in ruins. The people were using the money to build their own houses while leaving the house of the Lord in ruins.
70 years is a long time for the temple of Solomon to be in ruins.
The Lord blew upon their houses, put holes in their pockets, and literally judged them for not building the house of the Lord first, then their homes. They finally got it right and the house of the Lord was restored.
The last time that we see tithing in the OT is when the prophet Malachi shared about robbing God. Even after the temple was built, they continued in their old ways of robbing God. The Levites weren’t getting the tithes and offerings for their service of the tabernacle of the Lord. So the priests were financially abused. The Lord imposed the curse for robbing God in Malachi 3:9. This curse was lifted when Jesus became a curse for us according to Galatians 3:13-14.
Fast forward to the NT and we see that tithing was still a part of their temple worship. Jesus mentioned tithing in Matthew 23.
Please note that prior to the resurrection of the Lord that the OT was still in play. The people pretty much started giving to the ministry of the Lord Jesus (see Luke 8:1-3 and John 13:29). It is interesting to note that during the ministry of the Lord Jesus, there is no place written in the four Synoptic gospels that Jesus demanded tithes or offerings. However, he did instruct the Pharisees and Sadducees that they were not to leave tithing undone. What we also do not see is the Lord altering the tithes to come to Him. People still went to the temple to pay tithes and offerings.
When the crucifixion of Jesus took place, the Lord said, “It is finished,” and the curtain in the temple leading into the Holies of holies was ripped into two pieces. It signified that the OT is no longer to be used. In Biblical numerology, two is the number of a witness. In 2 Corinthians 13:1, Paul said, “Out of the mouth of two or three witness shall every word be established.”
This is from Deuteronomy 19:15 regarding establishing whether a witness is speaking the truth or not. The Lord Jesus used this when the Sanhedrin questioned Him about Jesus being equal with God (see John 8:13-18).
When the veil was ripped in two pieces, it was a witness against the entire nation of Israel that the OT is closed. God will never inhabit a building or tabernacle ever again. So the Levites are now unemployed.
That meant that the high priest and the Levites no longer had a job. Meaning that it was no longer necessary for tithes and offerings to be given to them for the service of the tabernacle because the tabernacle is no longer to be used as the place of worship for the Lord.
The new tabernacle is the heart of men (see Ezekiel 11:19-20, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, and Ephesians 2:14-22).
Now we do see, just for example purposes, that tithing was instituted during the OT, but we do not see any instruction for tithing for NT believers.
Here’s where we need to end the error.
When something is no longer instituted, what is the way of the Lord regarding the Christian church, after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus?
Some will refer to 2 Corinthians chapter 8 and 9.
2 Corinthians chapter 8 and 9 hasn’t been taught correctly either.
If you look very carefully, this act of giving was about a one time offering (not a weekly offering), to support the saints in need. If you read it very carefully, you will note that it took them one year to get this relief offering together, and it is not clear that it was only money. It could have been a combination of perishable and non perishable items. Paul was encouraging them to finish this up so that the saints could be ministered to. It wasn’t an offering to the church. It wasn’t an offering for Paul. It was a relief offering for the saints during a time of need.
Also, the rule of giving is to give what you can. Not give what you do not have. If you do not have it to give, God is not going to curse you. You can only give as the Lord has blessed you. So we should never look down upon those that do not have to give. Another rule is that the Lord doesn’t want you to get into debt when you are giving. Don’t put nothing on a credit card or loans, or home equity. God is never in debt to no one. God never commands a person to go into debt to get something done. If you have to go into debt to get something done, you haven’t heard from God.
Paul said, “Owe no man anything.”
The Lord told the children of Israel, “You shall lend and not borrow.”
“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant (slave) to the lender.”
If a preacher tells you to get into debt, he lied to you, and all liars will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone (see Revelation 21:8).
2 Corinthians chapters 8 and 9 would be used as a place where somebody would talk about tithes.
There is no place in 2 Corinthians chapters 8 and 9 where tithing was ever discussed.
So where does tithing fit for the NT believer?
The correct answer would be… no where is it stated that tithing is commanded of the Lord for NT believers.
I am aware of Proverbs 3:9-10 where we are to honor the Lord with your possessions. Traditionally, this portion of Scripture would refer to tithing. The first fruits that this verse is referring to is the best that you can give from all that God gave you.
To me, what I would do in light of this is go beyond a dollar. If a dollar is the best you could give after receiving a bi-weekly take home salary of $1,500.00, a dollar is not your best. That’s a tip for a waiter. This is being grudging and a miser. God is never that way with us and we should never be that way with Him. Just imagine that you got to pay rent and all God blessed you with is a job that earned a dollar? Would that be enough to pay rent? You know the landlord will give you an eviction notice if you give the landlord a dollar.
Then what would we consider to be the best that we could give the Lord of all that we possess? Your giving is already settled in your heart between you and the Lord. To keep calling for somebody to go beyond what the Lord already placed in your heart to give, is abuse. You know what I am talking about.
“I know that the Lord told somebody in here to give $1,000. We ain’t leaving till you do it, in Jesus’ name.”
So the music plays for another half an hour.
We see that giving is said of the Lord in Acts 20:35. If the Lord said to pay tithes, He would have said so, but He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Jesus didn’t belittle receiving. All He did was showed that it is more blessed. So receiving is blessed, but giving is more blessed.
The other thing that we would see is a pastor receiving enormous offerings and honorariums. In some cases, outrageous money would be given. I’ve heard that one preacher would get half the offering. If the stadium was filled to capacity, that’s a huge offering. I’ve also heard of VIP seating where a fee would be paid in advance for people to sit very close to speakers.
I’ve heard this done with two prominent speakers.
Joel Osteen and Myles Monroe.
I’ve also seen where there would be two offering plates. One for the speaker and the other for the church. Some places would have a check already written out and the speaker would never see the offering in the plate.
However, note what Paul said in Acts 20:33-34.
“I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel. Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak.”
Many pastors do not get paid to support their families today and are forced to work a secular job while pastoring. I know of a situation where a male pastor is working full time at the church but his wife had to work a secular job to make ends meet.
Paul was sometimes forced to labor and preach.
Even the Lord commanded that preachers should get paid.
Notice 1 Corinthians 9:11-18.
“If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more?
Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ.
Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar?
Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.
But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void.
For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!
For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.
What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel.”
I think that according to Paul, we can learn something from this.
The Philippian church was the only church that supported Paul and his entourage. Everyone else said to Paul, you are on your own. Or, for the sake of not being accused, he refused to receive an offering.
Paul had a right to demand he get paid, but he refused to exercise that right. He had a higher place of advantage. Go and work for yours. Many pastors do this year in and year out. With small congregations that cannot financially carry a pastor, he has no choice. Especially when he has a wife and children.
Paul saw that people didn’t trust preachers. Sadly, peddlers of the gospel in Paul’s day made it bad for them and for us that are legitimately called by the Lord. However, Paul took the high road and worked so that the gospel would never be blamed in any way.
However, the shenanigans of our day have really taken advantage of the sheep.
And here is the reason.
The prosperity gospel started because disgruntled preachers weren’t getting paid what they feel they were worth and then the race was on. People started to give to preachers out of three places. The gospel of prosperity is a clear violation of Jesus’ instruction in Matthew 6:19-21 where we are told not to lay up treasures on earth. The giving to get doctrine is the law of reciprocity at work but the purpose behind giving has always been about getting more by giving.
At one point, Jesus did mention about giving something to someone in need, looking for nothing in return. Folks today would have ran Jesus out the building and over the cliff.
Here is the three reasons behind the hype of church paying tithes and giving offerings.
1. Emotional Manipulation.
2. Intellectual Manipulation.
3. Revelatory Manipulation.
What helps in all three categories is music. The right words said at the right time, with the right music, and some people will give their houses away. That’s what I’ve noticed on Eddie Long’s watch night service in 2012. The stringed keyboards would be used in the background and it would give that worship feel that tugs on your heart and clouds your mind.
Folks, it’s time to look at the reality of the Word. God knows where you are in your finances and He is not going to rob you and leave you dry. He will put enough in your hand where when it is time to give, you will be cheerful about it.
The false prophets started teaching these things as well and what cropped up was the money line.
$50, $100, $1,000, $2,000, $10,000.
People were giving their rent, light, gas, car notes bills away.
Many pastors were climbing onboard with these heresy doctrines and building all sorts of temples unto themselves.
Building buildings instead of building people.
Sadly, people would come and give so much money that they thought that God would give something back substantially in return.
I heard of people leaving certain local churches to attend Creflo Dollar’s church. Without going into detail, they went down there in hopes of turning their financial situation around. Their outcome is uncertain. When you attend church for the wrong reason, you will never get the right reason. When pastors abuse the people, they are hirelings.
So what did we learn?
We learned that tithing is not commanded of believers in the NT. We learned that pastors are entitled to be paid because Jesus commanded it to be so. We learned that certain pastors work a secular job to make ends meet, and to not let the gospel be blamed in any way. We learned that 2 Corinthians is not about tithing or regular weekly giving but to meet the needs of the poor saints with a one time offering. We learned that Jesus never demanded tithes and offerings during His ministry, but He did receive financial help. We learned that we do not give our best after God blessed us; we tip God.
We learned that we are not to be manipulated or coerced to give, and that we are not to allow anyone to impose a guilt trip upon people. We learned that music could be used to soften the heart to give. We learned that the Lord already placed in our hearts what to give, and not beyond it. We learned that the church is not a place where it supposed to rob people but to help people get closer to the Lord in a relationship with Jesus.
Is the place where you are supposed to be worshipping God, a den of robbers?
