I find that dealing with the area of porn, it just leaves the impression that men and women just sit there and watch naked people commit the sin of adultery, fornication, bisexuality, and homosexuality, and then turn off the TV, cellphone, iPad, or whatever device they are viewing and that’s the end.
Nothing else goes on.
But those of us that have been bound to this know that when it comes to watching porn, acting out sexually is part of the package.
Whether we act out sexually with another person or masturbate, the heat of sexuality is ever present. There must be a release of sexual tension.
Charisma put out an article on their page regarding overcoming porn.
Every one of us that came out from viewing pornography applaud anyone that address this issue.
In most articles that Charisma posts, they usually leave a place for comments but evidently, they chose not to allow for comments. And that’s fine.
Thank goodness for bloggers that will reveal a lot more of what goes on with pornography so as not to cut corners or “sugar coat” the anti porn message.
Porn is not just a show. It is demonic activity. Pornography is an “accelerant.”
Lust is already in the heart and mind of a man or woman, and all they want is something a little extra to heighten and “hijack” the chemicals and emotions operating in the body to achieve orgasm or releasing sexual tension.
But on the spiritual side, a man or woman must defect from righteousness, operate in disobedience to the commands of the Lord to remain pure, obey the enticement from demonic sources to be drawn away to commit sexual immorality.
Demons are always involved in sexual immorality and it is covetousness, which is idolatry that takes place wherever and whenever porn is involved.
Men are sight oriented and women are touch oriented.
What is the combination that occurs in sexual activity?
Sight and touch.
What attracts men to porn?
What they see. Then the arousal process begins. Sight and stimulation.
In the case of men, manual stimulation while aroused by sight is what makes masturbation, that leads to orgasm, the number one reason why men are bound to porn. A man doesn’t have to mentally manipulate or coerce a woman into sex. He engages in solo sex without relational involvement.
According to Dr. William Struthers, “porn hijacks the brain,” and he engages in masturbation, pretending to have sex with that image.
He deliberately avoids the normal relational process because all he wants is sex.
In the privacy of his home or hotel room, he engages himself sexually, brings himself to orgasm, and it’s over.
According to a source, the average time a man spends watching porn in a hotel room is 12 minutes.
A man doesn’t need porn to engage himself in masturbation. His mental capacities can engage in solo sex because, again Dr. William Struthers, in his book “Wired For Intimacy,” said that a man is wired for sex. He’s done a case study of individuals regarding the effects of porn on the brain.
While I was taking a course from Liberty University on Sexuality, another person did a case study years ago on the effects of porn on the brain. There is scientific evidence that porn is dangerous to the brain and its objective is to impose and implant abnormal sexual behavior.
But these studies all come to the same conclusion.
Porn is just an accelerant.
In order for a fire to start, all you need is three basic components.
Fire, material, and oxygen.
Eliminate one of these three, and you cannot have a fire.
But a person isn’t satisfied with just the basic components.
To get a bigger fire you need an accelerant.
It’s not a bigger orgasm that will be achieved. It’s the way, methods, or instruments that you use to get to the place of no return.
The man or woman is bound to use this and other accelerants to achieve orgasm.
So he or she returns, day after day, night after night to achieve something that is illusive.
You could also factor in the emotional episodes that people go through during the day that ties into achieving complete human satisfaction.
It’s an acronym for H– Hungry. A– Angry. L– Lonely. T– Tired.
When any of these emotions surface, this is the place where sexual temptation is sure to come, but also remember what James 1:14-16 says.
“But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.”
These things are always operating in the carnal believer until crucified.
Only those that respond to satan get resurrected from the dead to commit sin.
Remember what Paul said that we are to be dead to sin but alive to God.
We cannot be alive to sin and alive to God at the same time.
With HALT, we could see satan personally attacking the Lord Jesus in the wilderness. Jesus was Hungry. Jesus was physically Lonely. At the very least, two out of the four were present.
Remember. Jesus was tempted in all points like ourselves yet, without sinning (see Hebrews 4:15).
Now men are looking to be seduced and women and men (homosexuality) will use the tools to draw them from strength to struggle. They give in to the struggle because of the reward of orgasm, but it always lead to an empty feeling inside.
Sexual intimacy is to be shared with a person of the opposite sex within the confines of matrimony. Yes, it involves relational involvement so as not to cheapen the person. Hence, “Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled, but adulterers and fornicators God will judge.”
Above that is the fact that sexual immorality is an act of sin, which is an act of betrayal of the only One that could fully satisfy our every need (see John 4:1-42).
When a man or a woman engages in sexual immorality, he or she is seeking intimacy.
The highest form of intimacy is with the Lord in spirit and in truth, worshipping the Father. In the natural, the Lord provides for natural intimacy in marriage. And when the natural intimacy is achieved in legal matrimony, we go back to the Father for full satisfaction.
So when it comes to masturbation, achieving orgasm outside of the marriage, we are robbing ourselves of complete satisfaction as designed by the Lord.
You can read the Charisma article here
In the “gospel music industry,” we see that another noted “artist” is announcing his marital failures and possibly “sin.” The devil’s trophy case of noted singers, musicians, and preachers is filling up. Israel said that he sinned in his marriage, but few are willing to say that “they’ve sinned against God.”
Israel never mentioned on his FB page that he sinned against God.
And that’s more important.
You can’t cheat or commit adultery against your wife until you commit adultery against God.
Obviously from sources, his mistress was a gospel artist. Either a Jezebel driven woman and or just a sexually immoral woman as Proverbs teaches men to avoid.
When you read into the statements of many failed ministers and gospel singers, the pitfall into sin is obvious. If this is to be true, the preponderance of evidence suggests that porn and masturbation is a strong probability in his life. Not every man is caught in this whirlwind, but the statistics are strongly in favor that many men are into porn and masturbation.
Consider the fact that this was kept hush hush until now.
What was he protecting or keeping SECRET?
Protecting his music and keeping his sin a secret.
Never mind keeping his relationship with God and salvaging his marriage.
It was all about maintaining his reputation because as a result of his divorce, the sin was rising to the top to be exposed.
That’s how we do church these days.
Keep ministering, forget our relationship with God. Marriage fails. Oh well.
The pitfalls of marriage is always, sex, money, and relationship management.
It is very easy to read into the “sinned” part.
Secret Sexual Sins.
It takes discipline to stay away from the sexual immoral women. The interconnectedness of music and sex knows no boundaries. Psalm 90:8 (NLT) says this, “You spread out our sins before you—our secret sins—and you see them all.”
As I have said, the Lord was never caught off guard. The Lord seen this happen before the world was founded. So we need to take another look at what always happens that lead up to physical adultery.
Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
In order for you to commit physical adultery, you must commit spiritual adultery first.
You must disregard your relationship with the Lord. You must cast aside prayer, worship in spirit and in truth is cast to the side. Deliberately disobey the Word of God to abstain. The Holy Spirit and discipline is suppressed.
satan demands that you leave your holiness, prayer and Word life at the door of darkness. He demands you to snuff out your light to enter the place of darkness.
Leave the Lordship of Jesus at the door.
And whatever wounds a person may have in their marriage becomes the false reason to sin against God.
You then begin to eye a female for sexual connection. She agrees to give you what you refuse to get from your own wife according to Proverbs 7.
But something else was burning. Releasing sexual tension through masturbation. You do not need porn to masturbate. Just an image or imaginations that lead to fulfilling a sexual fantasy. But as with all men, it gets boring. That line you said you never cross was a lie.
You arrange to “hook up” with a member of your church, praise and worship singers, or someone from the outside to attempt to be discreet within the frame work of a false sense of security.
All sexual sins is a result of lust in the heart.
James 1:14-15 and 1 John 2:15-17 reveals this.
Hurting in the soul over something that happened in a marriage is a pitiful excuse to commit adultery. Not that any excuse to sin against God is ever good enough. Sinning against God is not outright hatred of God unless you were never born again.
As John the apostle said, “Anyone that is born of God cannot sin.”
Because true believers prove their love for God by keeping His commandments (see John 14:15).
In the Charisma article, it is very easy to try to smooth over the fact that sexual sin took place. It goes to show you at what lengths the “Charismatics” will use vague terminology to cover the sin of an international gospel artist.
The Bible is clear that “love covers a multitude of sins.”
But the Bible also says in 1 Corinthians 13 that “love rejoices not in iniquity but rejoices in the truth.”
The gospel music industry is noted for bringing some of the most exciting contemporary music into the house of worship. Some are amazing and straight from God. Others just have too much of the world in it to focus on God, holiness, righteousness, sanctification, redemption, discipline, consecration, and total devotion.
Evident is the combination of marital situations that push a minister beyond boundaries and limitations to maintain a strong impenetrable healthy bond and the thirst to perform.
When a man or a woman is consumed and defined by what they do, they lose who and whose they are in Christ.
As with sexual sins, there is always the preponderance that when sexual neglect takes place, the man is “Wired for Intimacy.” At some point, if he isn’t as disciplined as he should be, the tempter will tempt him to entice his desires. Lustful desires that lurk in a man’s fleshly needs one hot moment.
One match starts the fire.
Ministry is full of these four things.
This is what Pastor Roger Jamison of Sword Of The Spirit Tabernacle in Brooklyn NY taught me. These are the emotional tell tale signs of an individual in ministerial overdrive. His soul is wide open to be tempted sexually. The devil opens up the matchbook and strikes the match.
A hot looking woman or man.
Infatuated and obsessed after a sexual separation due to marital issues makes a man or woman ripe to commit adultery.
The late David Wilkerson said this while praying.
“God, keep me humble. Keep me on my knees.”
The one place where there is power is prayer. Prayer. Prayer. Obedience. Obedience. Obedience.
Pastor Roger Jamison also said that we must “Guard our unguarded moments.”
Jesus said in Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, lest you fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”
Peter said, “Be sober, be vigilant. For your adversary, the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
When you are watching over your life, you constantly tell the devil that you are not on his menu. You have to tell him this every time till your last dying breath or when the Lord returns.
As many of us have said, Israel Houghton will not be the last gospel artist to fall into sexual sin. There are many others that have and will never reveal it to save their “ministry.”
But Jesus said this in Matthew 10:39 “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Jesus said in Luke 12:2 “For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.”
Come Clean! Or Be Exposed. (A chapter in my book Secret Sexual Sins).
More and more, we are finding that people are willing to lose their relationship with the Lord to find life. But Jesus requires and demands that we lose our lives for His sake to find it.
Sin always leads to death.
The one thing that the Holy Spirit tells me that keeps me from sinning against God sexually is the fact that if I entertain that sin in thought, deed, and words, what if Jesus were to come at that moment?
Would I be eligible to be raptured or will I remain on the earth to watch the wrath of God be poured out? What if my soul was required at that moment?
Meaning, what if I were watching porn and masturbating, and I happen to die? Would I go to heaven to appear before God, or will I die and go to hell?
Ezekiel 18:24 answers this question.
“But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.”
It’s a fearful thing to know that you missed out when you could have disciplined yourself to abstain.
One moment of sinful pleasure is not worth an eternity in hell.
We pray that Israel Houghton has repented as he has said. But more than this first step must be taken.
If he is involved with porn and masturbation, he is still caught in the whirlwind of sexual immorality. There has to be a clearing of the deck. A clearing of the heart. A full renunciation of sexual immorality. And a renewed commitment to abstain from every form of sin.
Avoid fornication, adultery, homosexuality, bisexuality, porn, masturbation, and bestiality.
It’s not worth going to hell over.
The Charisma article could be read here.
The title of a Charisma article is a reminder. Although, I agree with the Charisma News article that Sexual Sins is weakening the Body of Christ, but I also agree with the fact that believers are already in a weakened position.
Jesus said in Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray lest you fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”
When we deliberately fail to watch and pray, the devil watches and we become his prey.
Since “The War Room” movie, I am assessing the strength of our local church. And I am also assessing if lasting change has been instituted to endure to the end. After a powerful movie, sometimes our emotions will compel us to initiate things. However, stemming from my own life, such grand promises require “stay with it power” to see it through to the end. It is then that we can properly assess our desire to stay with what was started in us by the Lord, or throw in the towel, and quit.
In Philippians 1:6, Paul says “…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
But the Lord is not going to do it without your compliance to His will, expressed in His Word.
Jesus said in Luke 18:1 “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,”
Galatians 6:9 says “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Faster and faster, we are seeing believers that regain their strength, and then in an instant, they lose it all in one moment of evil passion. Just as fast as they promise the Lord that they would never do that sin again, they slip back into the mud pit. I know what it’s like to climb out of sexual sins just to slip back in quickly.
1 Peter 5:8-9 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…”
Sexual sins have devoured many strong and weak saints.
The media has pushed illicit sexual freedom and immorality upon the world and the professed believers in the church allowed the opposite of Psalm 101:3 be their favorite Scripture.
They have set wicked things before their eyes.
When you sit in front of the TV, Internet, or other forms of media, you are wide open for a covert and overt assault from satan to trip you up in your flesh and mind.
No child of God is strong enough to withstand the attacks of the enemy when you are outside the secret place of the Most High. When you are outside of the name of the Lord, which is a strong tower where the righteous run into it and they are safe, you are vulnerable.
James 4:7-10 says “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double- minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”
The more we are drawn away from God, we are drawn towards darkness.
Few realize that the ultimate goal of the enemy is to pull you into hell. The “cares, riches, and pleasures of this life” is designed to pull you out of God and heaven, and plunge you into hell forever.
The vision of satan is expressed through all forms of media. As long as we can see it and deceive ourselves into thinking that it will not affect us, we are caught in the snare of satan’s lies. Strongholds are developed, and we fight to keep these strongholds instead of fighting to destroy them with the Word of God.
It’s amazing how many baseless excuses we make to keep a sin that no longer has power over us. We will deceive ourselves into thinking that we are good and that God is good with it.
God was never good with sin. He proved that on day one in heaven when lucifer and a third of the angels attacked. The angels that didn’t defect threw them all out and there was no place found for them. The revolt was so powerful that their were angels that were chained with everlasting chains and placed under darkness, reserved for judgment later.
Jude and verse 6 says, “And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;”
So it’s not just about sexual sins. It’s about getting believers in Jesus to defect and get them to throw away their salvation.
That one moment of sexual pleasure outside of the confines of holy matrimony is that one moment that satan was waiting for.
Hebrews 13:4 says “Marriage is honorable among all and the bed undefiled, but adulterers and fornicators God will judge.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 tells us that “fornicators….adulterers…will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
The weaker we become, the less likely we will choose to stand and fight. We allow our flesh to rule us to the point of overruling the Word of God and the Holy Spirit in us. We enter into hopelessness, hoping that God would not condemn us.
Romans 8:1-2 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free form the law of sin and death.”
As long as I walk in liberty as I obey the Word of God with the help of the Holy Spirit, I cannot be condemned.
If you keep finding yourselves under the power of sexual sin, turn to 1 Corinthians 10:13. The Holy Spirit will always make a way of escape. Thing is, are you willing to obey Him and take that way of escape?
Sin is a choice.
Decisions Determines Destiny.
What you decide to do has eternal consequences and ramifications.
If you are without strength,
(1) you need to go cold turkey and get on your knees to God in repentance and prayer.
(2) Then you need to be around strong men that either never walked in Secret Sexual Sins or were delivered a while (no less than three years free of porn and masturbation).
(3) Then you need to maintain your deliverance by not showing off to others in trying to teach them with less than three years of freedom yourself. Humility and humbleness of mind will keep you from being humiliated by God.
(4) Diligently apply the Scriptures daily, observing to do all that is written in the Word of God.
As Paul said, “Not a novice, lest being lifted up in pride he fall into the snare and condemnation of the devil.”
While the deliverance of the Lord is instantaneous, the maintenance of the deliverance is where the battle is won or lost. More often than not, it is lost during maintenance where a person is slowly drawn away from holiness back into sin. The excitement wears off and that’s where a man is more vulnerable to fall into sin after being tempted.
Like Samson, the locks on your hair is cut off, consecration is cast aside, your eyes are gouged out as you are tied between the post and made sport of. Acknowledge that you’re without strength, you are weak, and that you need God, and over time, the Lord will renew your strength like the eagles.
The Charisma News article could be read here.
Well, as I have said a very short time ago, pastors and adultery is not the surprise issue. We all get highly upset about it and treat it with disgust, but look deeper and you will see that porn and masturbation in a pastor’s life is the foundation of all adultery. There are two kinds of adultery.
- Sight Adultery. Matthew 5:27-28.
- Physical Adultery. Exodus 20:14 & 1 Corinthians 7:2.
To top it off, this pastor takes church funds ($22,000.00 over time) to pay for the high end of sexual addiction of acting out his fantasy.
Yes, married pastors that sin sexually will take things to the next level in the world of sexual sins.
According to Dr. Patrick Carnes’ this is the “cycle of sex addiction,”
1. Thoughts or fantasy.
3. Acting Out.
Level one sexual addiction involves porn, masturbation, prostitutes, and adultery with mistresses, and fornication should a professing believer or sinner isn’t married.
Not everyone is a sex addict, but when you are only controlling and managing your sexual appetites, you are determining the frequency, time, and preferences to act out sexually other than with your wife.
After the fantasy of masturbation gets old, the next line to cross is illegal sex with another man or woman.
As I have said before, the lines that people say they wouldn’t cross are crossed eventually.
There was one comment in the article that was interesting. Words to the effect…….“Aren’t there more important things for Charisma to report?”
When it comes to pastors and adultery in the church, the Lord is exposing the leaders that profess to know Him with their mouths but their hearts are far from the Lord (see Matthew 15:8). There is no question that this is a serious issue in the house of the Lord. It brings into question their relationship with the Lord and with their wives.
This is not the last report because we know that there are ongoing incidences even as we read this and other articles.
These are the last days and sadly, many will pay the price for walking away from the Lord. Then again, there are others that commit this sin who were never saved to begin with. We don’t know what’s in the heart of this pastor, but clearly Hebrews 13:4 and Revelation 21:8 is in play unless true repentance and faith toward God is made.
Another thing that the Lord told me was that satan hasn’t brought out his best.
IF you are a pastor and you are struggling with porn and masturbation, and you have been tempted to take things to the next level. Meaning that you haven’t crossed the line into prostitution and committing adultery with a mistress, this is the time to rein in your sexual appetite and get help from the Lord.
You are about to get exposed and the Lord loves you enough to reveal the dirt in your heart so that you can get things right with Him.
No man commits adultery, watches porn, or masturbates without first divorcing himself from his relationship with the Lord.
And let us not forget that another wife and family is destroyed. The wife will undergo many seasons of despair, anguish, embarrassment, and pain as this is publicly laid out. And the mistress who is in need of deliverance. She played a crucial role in the downfall of this pastor. While it is possible that she is unsaved, she too, is in need of the Savior.
The article about this pastor taking $22,000.00 to pay for his adultery could be read here.
