Sexual Purity Of Pastors

Titus 1:15-16 is the rule that many of God’s people, in particular, His professed pastors must live by.

“To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.”

We are aware that many pastors, bishops, and ministers are not sexually pure before God and the people. The question remains. What are we going to do about it? There is no question that the viability of the church is at stake.

Here’s what we must do.

1. We must live, preach, and teach the sexual discipline and purity of Jesus (see Hebrews 4:14-16).

Pastors must discipline themselves to live pure before God. We must learn to fight sexual temptation.

I believe that there is a number of ministers all across the United States that is already living and preaching sexual purity in their respective local churches on a regular basis. However, I believe that the Lord is also calling them to emerge from the sidelines. Come out from the hidden confines of their ministries to actively confront this scourge.

Whether it’s by holding conferences, seminars, or pastoral prayer groups, it must be done.

2. The Secret Sexual Sin lives of pastors must be exposed.

Psalm 90:8 says,

“You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.”

Too often, we see a scandal appear on the headlines, we are appalled and ashamed that another man of God had “fallen from grace.” The “fall from grace” took place in his secret life.

According to “” out of 81 pastors, 74 male, 7 women, 98% were exposed to porn.

43% intentionally viewed a pornographic website.

But this is just porn.

No one watches porn and never masturbate unless they are incapacitated in some way.

This is the scandal behind the scandal.

To relieve sexual tension, pastors masturbate. Compulsive masturbation may be a sign of sexual addition. The scandal begins in secret when lust lives in the heart of a pastor’s secret life.

The hypocrisy must come to an end among ourselves. We must not be afraid to confront our hypocrisy. Otherwise, our humiliation will manifest. God will not be mocked. The reverential fear of the Lord must return.

Discovery is going to come. It’s just a matter of a pastor’s own choosing. The Lord will use “Nathan” to either tell his sins or a pastor will choose to tell his own story and Come Clean before being forced to undergo great humiliation.

3. A willingness to undergo personal sexual accountability.

Genesis 4:9 says,

“Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother? He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”

The most difficult aspect of accountability is getting a pastor to voluntarily submit to some form of constant accountability before they trip into the pit of sexual sins. This preventative measure, when done correctly, (no witch hunting) can help to reenforce the call to purity.

We are our brother’s keeper.

We are God’s band of brothers.

When the Lord tells you to go after a brother, the love of God and His compassion must be at the forefront according to Galatians 6:1. If we do not facilitate a time where pastors can come together to meet the challenge of our times, we run the absolute risk of being the most ineffective bunch of pastors of our times.

This is MOAB.

The Mother Of All Battles.

Sexual immorality is the Goliath of our times. We’ve been denied victory because very few would be willing to rise like David and slay this giant. Either this “Philistine” dies and the devils flee or we become their slaves.

Twice a year, we hold Come Clean, Stay Clean Conferences designed to address these issues in a safe, non condemning environment. No titles, just brothers in the struggle to stay sexually pure before God.

In this conference, we set out to give men an understanding of their sexuality, ministering God’s truth, love, and grace to effectively help brothers in an ongoing effort to walk in total victory over sexual immorality without compromise or excuse.

The goal of Come Clean, Stay Clean is to provide an actionable Biblical solution to a serious but solvable problem.

If you go to our website at, you can find out when and where the next Come Clean, Stay Clean Conference will be held.

Together, we can make a difference in Jesus’ name.
