Decisions Determines Destiny.
People in the world, that are outside of Christ and His Word, by spiritual nature, will make some very bad decisions. But sensual or carnal believers will make flesh ruled decisions too.
Breonna Taylor for instance. And we might include many like her have made some very bad decisions.
You will say, “What does she have to do with this?”
In looking at Wikipedia, sometimes they tell the tale of the tape. When you want to understand a certain situation, we should make it a habit to look at the Genesis or the beginning of it all.
We look at the shooting. Many will consider the shooting as unjust. According to the account, she was in her apartment with her boyfriend.
In her apartment with her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, a concealed carry permit holder. So he was legally armed. But the point I want to make is that Breonna wasn’t MARRIED to Walker.
You will say, “This has nothing to do with her being shot by police.”
But think about it. The decision to be with an individual that’s not your husband, turned out to be a fatal decision. When you eliminate the standard of Biblical marriage, it WILL cost you.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10.
We don’t know if Breonna was saved by the Lord.
But let’s assume for moment that she was or she wasn’t. Do you believe that believers in Jesus WON’T be judged for having sex while NOT being married?
But let’s ask the first question.
Do you believe that true believers are permitted to be with an unmarried man in a sexual relationship?
Hebrews 13:4 (NKJV Strong’s) “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”
We don’t expect the world to live by the standards of the Word of God, but sadly, you have believers that make excuses.
Once Breonna Taylor was shot and killed by police, her decision to be with a man that wasn’t her husband, a man that is known to have been dealing drugs, her decision came with a great price.
Now many will say, “You don’t know what they were doing.”
With sinners, anytime you have a man or woman in your house or apartment that’s not your husband or wife, the odds are clear that if you’re in a relationship, it will include sex. The odds for fornication and adultery is called “preponderance.” More likely than not.
Some of you believers will remember the woman at Jacob’s well. After a while, the Lord Jesus “read her mail.” She had 5 husbands and the one that she was with, wasn’t her husband (see John 4:1-42).
The time of the shooting was 12:40 AM. What were you doing with a man that you’re not married to in your apartment at 12:40 AM?
The police were executing a “No knock search warrant.” The intention of a no knock is so that the target has very little or no time to retrieve a firearm, other weapons, or escape. According to reports, there were no drugs found in Breonna’s apartment.
So why were two unmarried persons in an apartment? Remember, Breonna had a boyfriend that wasn’t her husband.
I can go on, but now that we know how all this started, why do men and women make decisions and end up with similar situations like Breonna? A young woman with her life ahead of her? The life ahead, when outside of Christ, is no guarantee of longevity. And you could live a long life and still die and go to hell.
The media concentrates on the results but we need to concentrate on what got her killed in the first place.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7
You see, what we don’t know is did anyone share Christ to her before she died? Did she “despise wisdom and instruction” to get saved, delivered, and set free by Jesus?
All those times that we walked by street preachers, family members that were serious in the Lord, we deliberately ignored, we’ve walked by live church services where we could have walked in to repent and receive salvation.
That piece of paper a believer gave us we’ve torn into pieces, because we’ve rejected the Prince of Peace.
The Lord sets up ample opportunities to receive the Lord and when we deliberately ignore them, at any moment, we can breathe our last. There’s no do overs, no second chances, and no way back to pass through the doors of death back to this life.
When people aren’t afraid of God, decisions determines destiny.
Many people may not end up the way Breonna did, but then again, should we tempt fate?
Should we dare tempt the Lord?
Should we dare assume that we have invincibility?
If you’re upset, calm down and think about the decision she made, and perhaps, even the decisions you’ve made.
