In an off topic message, we see that something unusual is happening with prominent ministers of all backgrounds and front runner presidential candidate, Donald Trump (R).
What’s the real purpose behind these prominent ministers praying for Donald Trump?
Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, and Mike Huckabee are outspoken in their faith in Christ.
Why didn’t they pray for their own?
Donald Trump has billions.
“Take heed and beware of covetousness. For a man’s life doesn’t consist in the abundance of the things he possess.”
There is very little doubt about this.
Preachers and money has always been a snare.
On another slant, this is in no way to be taken as a serious sign that God is endorsing Donald Trump. No man that has had so much marital problems and other situations is beyond the reach of God PROVIDED that they repent and place their full faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
We must remember that God is always looking to save even the worst of sinners. With the exception of the unpardonable sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit and apostasy, there is no sin too dark or too deep that the blood of Jesus can’t save, deliver, and set free. Yes, the angels are prepared to write his name in the Book of Life as the angels are prepared to write your name if you are not saved.
There is no sinner beyond the reach of God while they live on this side of eternity.
Sometimes we write people off too quickly as so far out of God’s reach to save that we become gatekeepers of the pearly gates. We blot out their names as if we are the scribes of God’s Book of life. Granted that all sinners, when they fail to repent, they must go to hell, where there is “weeping and gnashing of teeth, where their worm doesn’t die.” But as long as they are on this side of the land of the living, they are offered every opportunity to repent and place their full faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
I will say that we are the gatekeepers of truth. Truth must hit the preacher first before it hits the sinners. We must always stand for the right way of getting into the kingdom of heaven as our Lord Jesus commanded us. We must live and preach the right ways of the Lord, lest we become like Pharisees and Sadducees, perverting, twisting, and replacing the commands of God with the traditions of men.
Could it be that the Lord is giving Donald Trump another of many chances to repent and place his full faith and trust on the Lord Jesus Christ?
After reading this article, there is no mention of repentance and faith towards God from Donald Trump. But just because there is no mention of repentance, it doesn’t mean that someone didn’t try to minister salvation to him. But let’s just say, that perhaps no one was concerned enough to ask him about his salvation. They will have to answer to the Lord with Donald’s blood on their hands.
Since I wasn’t there, I cannot say that someone didn’t genuinely witness to Donald Trump, but if you have ever witnessed the gospel to someone, our initial mental attitude is in “apprehension mode.” When we get past that apprehensiveness, we go full throttle with the presentation of the gospel, pointing out their sin and getting them to a point of persuasion to accept Jesus as Lord.
We must remember that no one is beyond the reach of making Jesus Lord PROVIDED that they repent and place their full faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
During a C-Span event, Donald Trump was asked if he ever asked God to forgive him. He was asked this same question twice because he skirted around the question the first time, touting his Presbyterian, church attendance, sermon listening background.
Much like what some of us do today when God has cornered us with a question that requires a “YES” or “NO” answer.
Mingling and hobnobbing with high profile denominational and non denominational ministers is not grounds for automatic entrance into heaven. It is only through the shed blood of Jesus that we enter. It is when we repent of sin and place our full faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is when we obey the teaching of Jesus for the rest of our lives until we leave this life.
Since Donald Trump’s time of prayer with these leaders, we haven’t seen, at least to my knowledge, of Trump’s repentance and faith toward God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are reminded of what the Lord Jesus said regarding the rich young ruler.
Luke 18:24 “…How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” And those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?” But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
Just because it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, it doesn’t mean that it is impossible. It is impossible when his life is over. Once you are through the portals of death, there is no return, there is no do over, and there is no second chance.
The other thing that we can determine if he did repent is the fruit afterwards.
Jesus said in Mathew 7:20 that “You shall know them by their fruit.”
If their heart hasn’t changed, it is a good indication that when you hear Trump after this prayer that there was no real change. Proof of being with Jesus is when the person acknowledges or admit their sin, repents of sin, and lives his life according to the teachings of Jesus for the rest of their lives.
Jesus said in John 3:7 “You must be born again.”
If Trump continues to cuss, lust after women, is still covetous, and refuse to walk in God’s way, this fruit is evil fruit, and it will not be hard to see that nothing has changed. Just because a group of pastors from all denominations and non denominations prayed for you is by no means God’s endorsement.
If they were praying for his salvation FIRST, then the next thing that should follow is Trump’s repentance of sin or a refusal to repent. The thing about politicians and rich people is that ego is always the impediment to humility. The works of men to be righteous are as filthy menstrual rags (see Isaiah 64:6).
To pray for him that he would get into high office, is more along the lines of 1 Timothy 2:1-3.
But make no mistake about it.
God is working on the heart of Donald Trump. For the Lord said, through Peter, “…not willing that any (this includes Trump) should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
