Kim Davis And The Meeting With The Pope

Unknown-4

In an amazing turn of events, Kim Davis, the Rowan County Kentucky Clerk met with the pope for 10 minutes. For those that do not know who Kim Davis is. She defied the homosexuals that were looking for a marriage license. She denied them and a couple of heterosexual couples.

The Supreme Court allowed the 6th Circuit court decision to stand and she was order to jail in contempt of court for not issuing marriage licenses to homosexuals. We still contend the fact that there was no law passed by Congress that gives homosexuals the right to marry because there is no amendment or clause that specifically address marriage, whether heterosexual or homosexual. The 10th Amendment was made to address laws made by the states.

We also contend that the 14th Amendment, “Equal Protection” clause was about giving blacks rights. And thus, the Civil Rights amendments was birth for this purpose. Kentucky has no laws stating that a clerk MUST give homosexuals marriage certificates. Kentucky doesn’t have any laws giving homosexuals the right to marry. Hence, Kim Davis’ civil Christian disobedience to a law that doesn’t exist was the right call.

Homosexuality and homosexual marriage is not the law of the land. Therefore, how can you be disobedient to a law that doesn’t exist?

How can she be in contempt of court to a law that doesn’t exist?

Contempt of a federal judge?

Judges, presidents, governors, mayors, and county executives cannot make laws.

Last we’ve checked, Congress and the Kentucky legislature (not judges or presidents, or governors) never wrote a law. The only legal body authorized to write and pass laws is Congress and the states. Veto power is held only by the governor in the states and the president of the United States. Kim Davis was freed and the FRC along with governor Mike Huckabee, a 2016 presidential candidate, celebrated outside the place where she was incarcerated.

Since then, she has allowed the issuance of marriage certificates to homosexuals but without her name.

The certificates are issued as “pursuant to federal court order.”

She has since changed her political party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. But in another twist of events, she met with the pope.

There is no question in my mind that this meeting with the pope smells.

Here is the reason.

Preponderance of evidence. The Family Research Council led by Tony Perkins is not afraid to be inclusive of catholics to achieve a common goal. I believe that it’s part of a system of numbers and unity. There is no question that FRC has been leading the charge against tyranny in the United States, watching our freedoms slip away is a clear and present danger to the United States, but a much bigger threat than this has vicious spiritual ramifications.

There is no possibility of the Body of Christ coming together with clear doctrinal differences. We are so fragmented that the devil is laughing at our divisiveness.

Jesus said it clearly that a house divided against itself cannot stand (see Matthew 12:25).

You see, it is not about people but the people involved in the system.

There are beautiful catholics as well as there are beautiful protestants but when you honor the denomination above the Lord, that’s where the problem is. There are just as much hideous stuff that goes on in the protestant churches. Trouble is abiding also in non denominational churches with questionable doctrine (prosperity gospel and so forth).

However, we must never unite in compromise. The purity of the Bible and the common correct interpretation of Scripture is what we should fight for before we fight for causes that threaten a nation. The world sees several denominations made by man. As confusing as it looks, this is not the true Body of Christ. Doctrine has hacked up the Body where our body pieces are all over the place like a car bomb explosion.

That’s why Jesus shared about wheat and tares. Tares looks so close like wheat that the only time it becomes distinguishable is when you uproot them.

It is not uncommon for catholics to meet with protestants. But we should never meet to suppress the truth of the Scriptures. Neither should there be a meeting where hypocritical living is evident. You can’t demand that the world get born again if you are not born again yourself.

This is something that many leaders in catholicism is pressing for. For protestants to stop protesting the wrongly divided doctrine held by the system of catholicism. Therefore, it is uncommon for believers in the Lord Jesus to mix it up with a denomination (catholicism) holding questionable doctrine.

Many will say that protestants and catholics need to come together. Many will say that I am being divisive.

I beg to differ because of extreme doctrinal differences.

We must remember that Martin Luther, John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, and others vehemently protested catholicism’s monopoly on the Bible.

Many Christians tend to forget that these men were brutally persecuted for their stand against a system that held many people in bondage to an institution.

Note well Ephesians 4:4-6 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

If you are looking at major doctrinal differences, just look in three places.

  1. We do not pray to Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Matthew 6:6-7 “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.”

“vain repetition or (a proverbial stammerer)” is defined as to “repeat the same things over and over, to use many idle words, to babble, prate.” In other words, you use words over and over again as an act of religiosity with no real purpose. It is a form of godliness that denies God’s power. Such prayers as “Hail Mary, full of grace….” Well John 1:14 says “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jesus is “full of grace and truth…” not Mary.

John 16:23-24 says “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

No where in the Scriptures were we instructed by the Lord Jesus to pray to Mary.

2. We do not pray to “patron saints.”

From a good source, it is defined as “A patron saint or a patron hallow is a saint who in Roman Catholicism is regarded as the tutelary (familiar) spirit or heavenly advocate of a nation, place, craft, activity, class, clan, family or person. Supposedly, patron saints, having already transcended to the metaphysical, are able to intercede effectively for the needs of their special charges.”

John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 16:23-24 says “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Hebrews 7:25 says “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

Romans 8:34 says “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

1 Timothy 2:5 says For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,”

1 John 2:1-2 says “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

So ONLY Jesus is The Way, The Intercessor, The Mediator, The Advocate.

Therefore, no where in the Scriptures were we instructed by the Lord Jesus to pray to patron saints.

3. The pope is not the head of the church, Jesus is.

Ephesians 1:20-23 says  “…which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”

Colossians 1:15-20 says “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.”

The pope may be the head of catholicism, but he is not the Head of the Church.

Therefore, no where in the Scriptures are we instructed that we have another head other than Christ.

It is true that when one is called to the ministry, they represent the ministry of Jesus Christ according to Ephesians 4:11, but as believers, we serve in this capacity as well according to 2 Corinthians 5:20-21.

These Scriptures that were quoted is the work of William Tyndale, John Wycliffe and other heroes when they translated the Bible into english from the Latin Vulgate, Greek & Hebrew, and other sources. We have our own copies of what the Word of God says as opposed to taking it for granted the catholic priests were giving their own versions of misinterpreted Scriptures and self conjured religious sayings, lacking Biblical harmony.

So having said this, why would Kim Davis sit with the pope? I honestly believe that it was a set up. I could be wrong about how and who is behind this, but it doesn’t look right and it isn’t right and we know it.

I do not agree with it one bit. Some will ask the question, “What’s the harm?”

The harm is looking to man for help instead of God.

Psalm 121 says

1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills —
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

So should catholics and protestant stay apart or unify?

With clear doctrinal differences, there is no question about it. Until the system of catholicism is renounced, and these, and other major doctrinal differences are dealt with, it is best to be loyal to God and His uncompromising Word as opposed to being loyal to a system that is against the Scriptures.
