Noah: What Really Happened.

381DAAC230235B212EB3DE2C7A22CELast Saturday, 03/29/2014, the movie, Noah hit the screen.

From the world’s perspective (Hollywood), we’ve should have known that it wasn’t going to follow the true Biblical account.

The best thing that ever happened is that God put the actual account on record.

In the Holy Bible.

Few people realize that the Word of God is a legal document. It is called Testament. Old and New. It is also called Covenant. It is also called Agreement. If you agree with the terms, you are bound to fulfill your obligation. If you disagree with the terms, God is bound to fulfill His terms.

Life is a deposition. You will not be able to say that the Lord didn’t give you a chance. The evidence is against you.

“For it is appointed unto men to die once, after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27.

If death is true, judgment is true.

It’s funny that they would never do the Biblical account of the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.

In all actuality, they do not have to because we are seeing what they were doing today.

Just look on the street corners and you will see women and women kissing and holding hands. In the privacy of their bedrooms, it’s no holds bared in lascivious lust and utter perversions. With men, you see the same thing. In the streets, men and men kissing and then things heat up in the bedroom in perversion.

Notice what the Lord Jesus said in Luke 17:26-30 “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:

They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.”

Notice in the days of Noah and Lot that these activities were ongoing.

1. They ate.

2. They drank.

3. They married wives.

4. They were given in marriage.

Notice in the days of Lot that these activities were ongoing.

1. They ate.

2. They drank.

3. They bought.

4. They sold.

5. They planted.

6. They built.

What happened to Noah?

Noah entered the ark that God told him to build and then the flood came and destroyed them all except eight and two of each animal.

What happened to Lot?

Lot was taken out of Sodom and Gomorrah and fire and brimstone rained from heaven.

These events didn’t happen because God was bored. These events took place because in the days of Noah and in the days of Lot sin was out of control. Look at the Scriptures of the days of Noah and Lot.

First, Genesis 6:5-8 “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”

Then in Genesis 6:9-12 “This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.”

So we see that the intent of the thoughts of man’s heart was only evil continually.

Perversion was so great in the minds of man that they became very inventive of sin. Just look at porn today and you will see creative ways of perversion. It translates from the dark places of porn on the Internet, peep shows, and strip clubs, right into the bedrooms, back alleys, and certain job places in the world.

Just look at the conversations that you have with people. Nothing but sex and who’s involved with who on the side.

Just look at the bar scenes, corporate clubs, spring break for college kids, high level corporate sex escorts – male and female.

Things got so bad during the days of Noah that the Lord God said that He was sorry that He made man. Now remember, the Lord did not make man in the condition of sin. We must remember the account in the Garden that Adam listened to Eve because Eve was deceived by the serpent. The serpent was inhabited by satan (adversary) and God set in motion a plan to save man by sending His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of man. But it would take a few thousand years to make it happen.

Why didn’t God just kill the devil in heaven? Why didn’t God judge Adam and Eve in the Garden?

The answer to these questions is simple.

God did not want to make man all over again to see this happen again. It is a lesson that God meant what He said. To reinforce this lesson, everyone was declared unrighteous through Adam’s transgression. Through the shed blood of Jesus, when man repents (change his mind), he is forgiven and then the Holy Spirit makes him a new creation in Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:17, Titus 3:5). Man must now live a deliberate life of righteousness in true holiness to always please the Father.

He does this by……

Unquestioned obedience to God’s Word.

Right back to Genesis 2:15-17.

God is not going to go through this ever again. We will not go this way ever again.

Now just because God was sorry that He made man does not, in no way, imply in the slightest sense, that God sinned.

The creation of man in the image of God was God’s best and man, in his independence, failed to keep his end of the agreement. As long as he did not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he would live. The moment that he ate from the tree, he would die.

Notice verse 12 again……”for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.” Not God corrupted the way of man but all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

What happened to Lot?

Second, let’s look at Genesis 13:12-13 “Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.”

Many have argued that the sin of homosexuality did not take place. Well……it is clear that the Biblical account of the sin of homosexuality did occur. The Lord God sent angels to remove Lot, his wife, and two daughters from the area. Before the angels accomplished their task, the men of Sodom asked for the two angels.

Read the account in the New Living Translation of Genesis 18:4-5 “But before they retired for the night, all the men of Sodom, young and old, came from all over the city and surrounded the house. They shouted to Lot, “Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them.”

The men, young and old came from all over the city…..Not the women……the men.

Much of the same takes place today. Young and old men, looking to act out sexually. But notice that in each instance of the stories of Noah and Lot that destruction came. For Noah, the Lord saved him from the flood. For Lot, the Lord saved him from the fire. And so shall it be for this generation.

When the Lord Jesus, the Son of Man is revealed, judgment will fall.

We do not know when the hour of the coming of the Lord will appear, but know for certain that if the same things that we see today are occurring with regularity as in the days of Noah and Lot, there is no question that should man fail to repent, and turn from his wicked ways, the penalty of the error increases exponentially.

“For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

So, the next time that it rains, look up.

You might see the true rainbow made by God and not made by man.

The rainbow was placed in the sky by the Lord as a covenant not to destroy man by a flood of water but as Peter said…..

“that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first:that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,

and saying, “ Where is the promise of His coming?

For since the fathers fell asleep (died), all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget:

that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water (God’s wrath in the days of Noah’s).

But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
