Young Pastors, Rick Ross, Lil’ Wayne, What’s The Big Issue? – What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Tetaun Moffett, co host of EXTV with G. Craige Lewis put out a YouTube video of a radio interview that were discussing this issue about a 26 year old pastor who went to a rap concert featuring Rick Ross.

Pastor Rodney Wills, according to various news reports, was the youngest preacher to ever pastor the 109 year old, Mt. Salem Baptist Church, in North Carolina.

Prior to his installment as pastor, he was preaching there for about 4 years.

Mind you that there were many young preachers that started out pastoring a church in their teen years. Looking at the ministry of Jesus, His ministry started at the age of 30 and in three years, His earthly ministry impacted thousands, if not millions of lives just in the land of Israel alone. I am not saying that everyone should start at thirty, however, we see that maturity goes a long ways.

In Biblical hermeneutics, in particular, Biblical numerology, 30 is the number of maturity. Levites weren’t allowed to enter into service until the age of 30. They were forced into retirement at the age of 50, serving only 20 years. So maturity goes a long ways.

Paul warned Timothy “To flee youthful lusts.”

Evidently, young preachers today didn’t get that memo.

According to news reports, Deacon Miles Langley said, “We cannot have our leader supporting people of this world who are tearing down the kingdom of God.”

Pastor Rodney Wills was warned nine months earlier about attending a Lil’ Wayne concert.

Deacon Langley also said “We cannot have a pastor praising the world one minute then praising the Lord the next. Period.”

The radio show host, John A Young and Kevin Swann on WHOV 88.1 of Hampton Roads, aired their show in an apparent defense of Pastor Wills. They said some things that brought into question their relationship with the Lord, if there is any relationship with the Lord in their lives in the first place. It seems to me that these young preachers and immature preachers and believers will not take the Bible and the times we are living in very seriously.

These radio hosts took a page out of the defense attorney’s book.

Put the evidence on trial.

The show hosts kept going around in circles about whether it was right to fire this pastor or whether the deacon went through proper channels, and church protocols. Comparing it to the trial that took place with the Sanhedrin prior to the Roman examination and ultimate crucifixion of our Lord Jesus.

Additionally, the hosts and I believe another young immature pastor pretty much argued that pastors have a right to be entertained.

Well, it seems that these young and inexperienced preachers do not know what it means to be separated, sanctified, and holy before God to minister in righteousness and holy living.

The qualifications for being a Bishop or an overseer as recorded in Acts 20:27-31, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and 1 Peter 5:1-4, could be taken across the board for anyone desiring to be in the ministry (service). Once you accept the divine invitation to preach for the Lord, there is a further separation that must take place. Rebellious can’t tell rebellion what to do. The line must be drawn when it comes to the kinds and types of “entertainment” preachers might expose themselves to.

For instance, there were many preachers on FB that showed a provocative picture of Lady Gaga during a recent concert. Sadly, the devil smiles when we try to make a point with a provocative picture because all we are doing is aiding and abetting a felon. We are providing a sanctuary for demonic activity. We are spreading evil.

We can talk about how wrong it is, but to show the picture is nothing short of pornography.

Having been in the ministry since September 7, 1979, I wish that I were a lot more disciplined. I could have avoided the defiled pit of porn and self gratification. However, having learned the lessons of abstaining from every appearance of evil, learning what not to watch, and what I feed on spiritually, these lessons of grace and deliverance, learned the hard way, could have saved me a lot of headaches.

Tears mean nothing. It’s when the heart realizes that you hurt God that godly sorrow works repentance, leading to salvation. True repentance calls it quits with sin. If you are not ready to quit sin, you will never learn true repentance. All I was doing was revolving around and fooling myself into thinking that God was fine. He wasn’t. He demanded that I leave the devil and sin.

It took a long time to learn this lesson. But November 2008 would be the date of full deliverance from porn and masturbation from porn. It took another year to break the power of masturbation, with several relapses into masturbation because I loved sin more than God.

Finally, the Lord said, “You must put this all together or you are still a hypocrite.”

And that’s the one that kicked it to the curb completely.

When you are young, Paul’s admonishment to “Flee youthful lusts…” is appropriate for today.

Then there are a lot of preacher’s wives that see no problem with watching chick flicks with skin and mild and or blatant pornographic sex. Nothing short of soft porn.

Joshua said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

The wife is not to set the tone of what to watch. If that movie contains provocative sexual overtones, husbands, if she insists on watching it, let her turn into a pillar of salt.

One brother used, rather abused 1 Corinthians 6:12 where Paul said,

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful.”

Again, a good student of context would complete reading the entire verse and never quote a part to suit one’s own sinful needs.

All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”

When you pay for a movie and watch it, you are under its power. If you are under the Lordship of Jesus, you will abstain from the appearance of evil.

Few young preachers understand that the spirit of antichrist is already in the world. People are under the spell of rebellion and witchcraft like Saul and the children of Israel. Or when the ark of the covenant was taken by the Philistines because Eli, the overweight and physically blind high priest would not discipline and kill his sons because of perverse sexual activity in the temple.

With this young preacher going to a Rick Ross and Lil’ Wayne concert, there is no question that sexually provocative lyrics were used. Any one going to these concerts will have scantily clad women dancing provocatively. As a pastor, your reputation as a man of God is compromised. Your relationship with the Lord is compromised.

Let’s go to the measure of where the compromise exists.

There is the strong possibility that porn and masturbation is part of his life. When you attend these “concerts” the realm and atmosphere is sexually charged. Demon power is strong and unrelenting. They will feed into your mind sexual immorality until you yield. Whether you are married or not, somewhere along the line, you will attempt to let off sexual tension. If you are married, and you have watched porn before, already, you view your wife as sub-pretty and below beautiful.

You make a move to remember what you observed in that concert. The hot one that looked into your eyes as you stood there, gazing and drooling. The sensual music got you into the right mood. One thing leads to another. You see another hot woman and another. Just like on the Internet, you keep clicking and saving the image in your depraved mind.

Folks, this is what every man goes through. Having been in that world of porn, I know what I am talking about.

Perhaps, you, as a pastor, never watched porn or never gratified yourself in masturbation, yet, you find yourself at these concerts. You think that you are strong enough to withhold yourself. Lines that you say that you would not cross. Demons will wait you out, my pastor friend, Pastor Roger Jamison of Sword Of the Spirit Tabernacle in Brooklyn, NY told me.

You will say “no.”

But every man has a breaking point.

You think that you can’t be broken.

“Take heed, lest you fall into temptation,” said Paul.

The devil will keep on bringing that offer until you take it. All it takes is one moment of relapse. One slip of the eyes. One thought that mesmerize your mind and heart. One! Just one.

These preachers and radio hosts thinks that sin is innocent. In an article about it, one person made up an excuse that perhaps this young preacher was trying to get a little “experience” so that he would seem relevant to the youth in his church. To be able to minister to them on their level.

This is a lie of the devil.

There are many that believe that Jesus sat with sinners just to hang out.

Look at the passage carefully. The entire passage.

Matthew 9:10-13.

Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice. ’For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

You see, many will just talk about verses 10-12 and leave out verse 13.

What does verse 13 say?

He sat around sinners to do what?

What did Jesus said He is to do?

I find it amazing that when you are dealing with LGBT, they know the Bible like the devil does. They say only a few verses that matter most to them but when it comes to the real issue that confronts their sin, they don’t even come close to quoting that part. Much like many young, immature, wet behind the ear pastors and preachers that think that they could justify sin like being able to hold their liquor.

I say again, from what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 10:12,

“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”

There are many young, immature pastors and preachers that believe they can stand there and take it all in, and not be affected. Few of us understand the absorption of the human spirit.

Notice what the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 6:22-23.

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

The window to your heart is your eyes. If you, with intent, look at dark things, your body will be full of darkness. If you, with intent, look at things that of the light, your body will be full of light. So when you go to these concerts, there is no light there. You are allowing darkness to have a home in your body. This is what demons want. Bodily expression. Demon possession is not only about foaming at the mouth, and being disheveled in appearance.

You could look clean, watch porn, and be just as possessed.

There is no excuse for any person that profess to know the Lord to witness perversion of any sort.

Deacon Langley is to be commended for taking action so as not to further allow darkness to come from the sacred pulpit. Thus sparing the flock of God perversion entering into the hearts and minds of the people.

Take a look at this YouTube video and judge for yourselves.

Author: The Minister's Crucible

The Minister's Crucible is designed to inform the Body of Christ about the inner workings of the ministry. The word Crucible from Latin, is "crux" where we get the word "cross" from. It also means a "metal container" where metals and other substances are melted or are subjected to higher temperatures, put to the temperature test. The Lord Jesus said "If any man desires to follow after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me." Let's take up our cross and follow Him.
