CLUB CHURCH: SHOWTIME IN THE CHURCH – The Music Ministry & Sexual Immorality

When you look closely at the past history of music in the church and what is being played and sung in the church today, we are noticing that depending upon the worshipper of the Father in spirit and in truth, and the artist, their music is what drives the people into one of two places.

The holy hill of God or the demonic pit of the devil.

A familiar passage of Scripture comes to mind.

Exodus 32:1-9

“Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “ Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.

Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “ Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.” Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

And the Lord said to Moses, “ Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them.

They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt! ’” And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff- necked people!”

In this passage of Scripture we see a series of things that lead to sin. Notice what they said of Moses. “as for this Moses.”

This is contempt. Not just for Moses, but for God. This is what we are seeing in the houses of worship. When certain songs are not allowed to be played, contempt enters the heart and it won’t be long before they look for the first opportunity to usurp leadership and a calf is made.

The Lord said, “QUICKLY.”

God summoned Moses to the mountain to receive instructions to give to the people, but while he was away, the people took advantage of the vacuum of leadership and made new rules. This is what happens in the church when the leader is away. The people will rise up and make new rules.

Three principles of the vacuum of leadership.

1. When there is an absence of leadership, people will not maintain discipline and they will revolt.

Proverbs 29:18 says,

“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.”

The Amplified Bible says,

“Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man] —blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.”

Moses was chosen by the Lord God to lead the children of Israel from the house of bondage to the promised land. Moses was the direct connection to the Lord. Notice that the Amplified Bible says, “…but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man] —blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.”

So Moses had the vision and Moses was graced to lead the children of Israel. We will note the fact that the Lord had to discipline the children of Israel when they failed to walk in the Word of God. Moses also served as an intercessor. So a leader is graced to lead and he is graced to intercede should the people violate the Word of God.

When Moses was summoned up, the people of Israel revolted and the people cast off restraint.

In the Navy, before I became an Operations Specialist, I was in the Deck Department. When the ship is about to put out to sea, ships are moored to the pier with heavy nylon ropes, doubled up to ensure that if one rope were to break, the other line would serve as back up until that line is replaced. When the ship is about to get underway, the command is given to single up all lines.” Then a few minutes after the lines are pulled in, the command to take in all lines” is given and the ship is officially underway.

“Cast off all lines” is the command and the ship slowly moves away from the pier either under its own power or by tug boats until the ship is safely in the center of the channel and is able to proceed under its own power. Tugs are predominantly used under the direct command of a Harbor Pilot to help avoid other ships moored in tight spaces.

So it is with people in the church. They cast off all lines and move away from the safety of the Word and solid spiritual leadership. They drift away and live reckless lives.

Why did the children of Israel cast of restraint? They had no direct leadership in the person of Moses and that was excuse enough for them to make a break from the discipline that Moses imposed upon the people. Sadly, the leadership that remained failed to enforce the discipline of Moses. Aaron went along with the request of the people.

In many of our churches, there is a “party” atmosphere where the music sounds so much like the world. Just close your eyes, and you will see it and feel it. That’s why we can easily transition from one thing to the other without blinking an eye. Heaven is filled with music and so is the earth. Sadly, the earth is under the sway of the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. The unregenerate heart show up in the service and carry within them the heart of the spirit of disobedience.

When righteousness is introduced to the unregenerate heart, if there is no repentance, the unregenerate heart will long for the music of the world because darkness feeds into darkness.

It is only when a person makes a break from the darkness and repent of his or her evil deeds, that the power of God comes in and does a wondrous work.

2. The people will make a god to worship instead of worshipping the Father in spirit and in truth.

When the people of God has no leadership or if the leadership went to seek God for instruction, when the coast is clear, the true god that they want to worship will emerge. In chapter 32, we see that after all of the miracles that they Lord performed before the eyes of Israel that they no longer cared about how powerful God was. Israel was in bondage for over 400 years and the Lord told Joseph that they would be delivered.

The cry of Israel ascended to heaven and God heard their cry. It took 10 plagues to get the children of Israel out. Along the way out of Egypt, the Lord fed and watered the children of Israel. Yet, they rebelled and provoked the Lord.

How soon the people in the church forget how good God is. How soon we forget the awesome display of deliverances by the hand of God. We go backwards and assume that God is pleased. What do we do today? We bring our blessings (gifts and talents) and we make a golden calf. The calf represents self worship. The calf represents a replacement of authority, rule, and righteousness. In other words, it is a rejection of the Word of God and the God who gave the Word.

This calf is indicative of the fact that since we can’t tell the living God what to do, we will make ourselves a god that can’t hear, can’t discipline, and can’t do anything against us when we do our thing. This calf is indicative of their heart. Don’t want to hear God. Don’t want to respond to God.

3. Sexual immorality.

Notice that they “rose up to play.” We all know that to rise up to play is not to just sing and dance. This is about sexual immorality in the services. There was one particular church in New Jersey that had a “threesome” during Bible Study in the back room of the church while a staff minister instructed the class. This threesome was the senior pastor, his wife, and a male deacon. Ungodly and vehemently disgusting. Folks, this was a few years ago but this is the kind of stuff that goes on in the church.

Rising up to play is incorporated with the praise and worship offered as entertainment in the local church. If you are not entertained enough, just go to a local church that offers the hottest music and close your eyes. You think that you were in a club. The sacredness of music and the lack of seeking God has been thrown out of the house of God to appease the people to fill seats.

You cannot throw God out just to fill seats. Yet, this is what pastors do. To fill seats, they have the deftest musicians. They copy the songs that other “professional artists” do and the worship of God is canned. The worship of self is introduced and it is like a drug. Once you see the overall affects and the people loving it, they want more and then you have the golden calf effect.

Then all of a sudden, the women come in, pregnant out of wedlock. Homosexual activity. Perversion all in the house of God.

If we do not stop this nonsense, we will have Ichabod placed on the door post of every house. We will have the candlestick removed, if it hasn’t been removed already. Holy must not mix with the profane. Unrighteousness must not mix with righteousness. The devil doesn’t mind if you are dancing all over the place. The devil doesn’t mind if you are emotionally charged. He minds when you walk in the Word and be just like Jesus. He minds when you refuse to worship a cheap exhibit of the lower nature that reflects the dark heart without God.

Put away among you “Showtime In The Church.”

All of those Thieves In The Temple” as EXMinistries puts it. Get them out of the church. Cast them out and the devils that instructed them.

CAST THEM OUT! In Jesus name!

Sanctify the Lord in your hearts and depart from iniquity.

Only then will the people that claim to worship God will emerge and God will be pleased.
