The “J” Word And Sandy

I tried not to go there but there is such a compelling and impression in my heart to get the message out. Impressed by the unprecedented results of Sandy, there is a reason behind what we are seeing.

But I said something about natural disasters that Sandy, as a result of Adam’s transgression, is just another natural disaster. Upon further review, I must share this.

These natural disasters that occur is a revelation of the fact that when a man departs from order, chaos comes about. Natural disasters come and go. When they do come, the destructive force is terrifying. Natural disasters point to one thing, if you are in the way, it will cost you. Including the loss of life.

I mentioned as a title, the “J” word.

Judgment.

Take a look at the path of Hurricane Sandy and most storms usually glance the coast or go out to sea. This storm took an unprecedented turn right towards the northeast and then the brunt of the storm hit NYC, Connecticut, and NJ. It pivoted and did a flanking maneuver when it should have turned and headed east, away from the coast.

No one wants to speak of the consequential judgment of the Lord.

In fact, go to your modern day prophets for profits and these spiritual inept misfits will not tell you anything but how blessed, prosperous, favored, (excuse me….highly favored), and purposed you are. Never will they read the signs of the times and seek the face of God to discern the times we are currently living in.

In Hebrews 6:1-2, the elementary principles of the doctrine of Christ were listed. In other words, the thing Jesus taught are called, “building blocks” or rudimentary doctrines. Another way of putting it is “the basics.”

When you look at….“and of eternal judgment,”this speaks of the basics of the judgment of God after we depart this life.

But the book of Revelation speaks of the judgment of God, commonly called, “The Day of the Lord”(see Amos 5:18-20, Matthew 24:15-22, Jude 14).

This is the wrath of God where God pours His righteous judgment upon the earth.

But another form of judgment that occurs on the earth while you are passing through is called “consequential judgment.”

Consequential judgment is something that is done as a result of personal sins committed.

For instance, when you fornicate or commit adultery, the possibility or risks of STDs come into play.

While condoms serve for two purposes, oneto protect against STDs, two, prevent pregnancies, we know that condoms are used to subvert the Word of the Lord not to commit sexual immorality and to deny consequential judgment associated with the sin of fornication and adultery to run its course.

Judge them for sinning against God and His righteous Word.

Homosexuality is in a class of sin by itself.

The judgment against Sodom and Gomorrah, and the surround cities, is the wrath of God upon the sin of homosexuality. Fire purifies and that’s what judgment is about. Purification. But this form of judgment should serve to others that the Lord is not playing. God’s hatred for all sin is clear and any form of judgment, whether it is the wrath of God or consequential judgment, itshould serve as a deterrent to not deliberately and intentionally sin against God.

But with man and his fallen nature, defiance against God is the law of sin and death. Defiance against the righteousness God is the course of this world, as directed by the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience (see Ephesians 2:1-3).

The sin of homosexuality is the highest form of sexual immorality and is judged on a commensurate level. This form of perversion brings upon it the consequential judgment of an attack on the immune system where a practicing homosexual that acquire HIV/AIDS cannot fight off a simple disease. A regiment of medicines is used to take the place of the natural immune system to hold off death.

Just go the CDC site and click the statistics for sexually transmitted diseases.

The lives lost because of Sandy is going to rise. The monetary damage will continue to climb. People are suffering. While any loss of life is regrettable, we must get to the root cause of why this unprecedented event took place.

Is this event just a natural disaster?

When we leave off the table consequential judgment, we risk going back to spiritual business as usual.

We must address this issue.

Look at what the Lord said in Luke 13:1-5….

“There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

And Jesus answered and said to them, “ Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem?

I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

These events were not natural disasters but the point is to repent, or we will all likewise perish. That is that when an event comes that causes the death of someone, unless we repent before such events takes place, we will end up eternally lost.

All throughout Biblical history, we see the world experience natural disasters.

The children of Israel, when they disobeyed God, they would experience a series of disasters. The judgment of God would come in many forms.

Plagues, natural disasters, such as no rain, famine, drought, floods, earthquakes where people that sinned against God, the earth opened up and then closed upon them. We see also that God sends nations to the borders of Israel and attack them.

Why?

Because they failed to do what God said to do. Deuteronomy 28 details the “Blessing and Curses.”

But the Lord also sends judgment upon the other nations too.

9/11, Storm Katrina, Economic judgment called recessions and joblessness brought about by the sins of covetousness, same sex marriage, adultery, fornication, porn, bisexuality, and masturbation, and abortion, Storm Isaac.

There is always a penalty for thumbing your nose at God. And there is judgment in the house of the Lord for leaders not living right and preaching against all sin. We just want to preach feel good messages like what you see on TV. We want to be like them instead of being like Jesus.

When the children of Egypt held the children of Israel in bondage for 430 years, they were judged for not letting them go. God sent Moses to demand to Pharaoh to let His people go. At one time Egypt (the children of Mizraim, descendants of Ham- black folk), didn’t mind having the children of Israel and then they turned on the nation of Israel, enslaved them, and forced them to work.

This bondage caused the nation of Israel to cry to the Lord for deliverance. As a result, 10 plagues came upon Egypt and the passover was Israel’s last night in bondage. The passover served as a powerful illustration of several things.

One, if you were a child of God in bondage, and you cry out to God, He will answer and deliver you.

Two, if whatever is holding you refuses to let you go, it will be judged.

Three, when judgment comes, it will not be pretty.

Now with Sandy, many of you will say that this was just a natural disaster.

Take a look at many of the past hurricanes that came through the tri-state area. Can you remember anything like this? Of course there was damage and even fatalities in the past but what makes this a very costly storm of $50 billion plus dollars?

Let’s add this up.

In defiance of God, the following took place in NY State.

We have a lesbian for City Council president in NYC. We have a pro homosexual mayor that passed out education pamphlets on homosexuality in the NYC public schools, and has made available the morning after pill to teens who get pregnant. We have a governor that signed into law same sex marriage.

These leaders are responsible for the consequential judgment that came upon NY, but the impotent, gutless spiritual leaders in the state are equally responsible. We’ve failed to live right before the Lord and we’ve failed to preach righteousness and true holiness. We’ve opened the door for these things to be established in this state.

1. In NY alone, the state has more gay affirming churches than most states.

2. In NY State, gay marriage was made and signed into law.

3. The church (pastors and people) in NY state refuses to live sanctified lives.

4. Covetousness and greed fills the minds of people.

5. Fornication and Adultery that 98% of the time, end in abortion.

There was a time when people would serve God and go to the house of worship. Not anymore. The house of worship is, in some places, as corrupt as the world. There is no light in these places because people’s minds are just as corrupt as the world.

Some of you will recall the HMS Bounty that sunk off the coast of Cape Hatteras, NC.

This captain, Robin Walbridge took this ship out to sea, towards Hurricane Sandy.

Many captains are wondering why would someone do such a thing as to head into the teeth of one of the most destructive storms that puts fear into the hearts of any captain?

Most of the time, it is prudent to get underway before the storm intensifies and ride the storm. Because staying tied up, dockside, more damage will take place. It is only prudent, if you get underway before the storm hits.

He got underway with bad timing. Granted, it takes a lot to get a ship underway. It is not that easy. Mast ships are especially not easy to sail, let alone get the ship underway. Mast ship require team work and prudence. There is no question about their capabilities and seamanship. Just the judgment to take to the seas is the only thing that is in question.

He paid with the lost of his ship, and he is presumed lost at sea.

14 souls were recovered. 2 died.

Here is my point.

As long as the church takes a perilous course towards a storm, the outcome is certain.

The place where leaders are supposed to live right are living just as bad as the world’s leaders. There is no fear of God before our eyes. Very few are seeking God, repenting, and living holy lives. These are very dark days and times we are living in.

What have we been preaching is the feel good messages without any convicting power of the Holy Spirit. There was one time a hatred for sin. Now, it is expected that sin is permitted because we have given up on the righteous standard of the Word of God.

Just because people fail the standard, it doesn’t mean that the standard failed. Men fail God and His Word.

The protection of God has lifted from NY State. The church is under judgment in NY State. The evidence speaks for itself. The church must return to the Lord in repentance and seek the Lord for forgiveness. The inept preachers of our times must be dropped.

Stop trying to be like them and be what God called you to be. This is not a popularity contest where you become well liked for preaching about “destiny and purpose and prosperity.” People need answers and the first answer they need is that God is against all sin, so must we be against sin.

The next form of consequential judgment will come. However, we need to find grace in the face of God. We need to find a house where true worship of the living God takes place, make Jesus Lord over your life forever, repent of all sin, and never defy God and His Word again.

Disagree New Yorkers or anyone else?

Take a look around you when you walk outside. Read the news. If this isn’t consequential judgment, just remember, God is merciful and it could have been worse.

Absolutely on point. The Lord had me begin a series at Good News titled, “The Other Side of God’s Love”, John 14:15, 21. This series addresses the systemic roots of how the church has failed at being the watchmen/guardians of righteousness in our culture and society; because like the world, we are caught up in how God loves us but largely ignoring our responsibility to love Him through a life of Biblically-consistent, obedient discipleship. When it is time for us to obey God, especially His requirements that are inconvenient and uncomfortable, we cry ‘legalism’ and pull out the ‘grace’ card to justify and rationalize not doing what He says do. We have selective obedience; obedience that only suits our ‘feel good’ prosperity-driven, 21st-Century theology. And we wonder why the world, society and culture is in the mess that it’s in…. Yes we are looking at judgment. And this is only the beginning. However, with God there is always hope. The remedy is in the book of Jonah; a remedy for the Church and a remedy for the world. It is; repent and obey and God will show mercy, forgive, pardon, relent and restore!

Amen, thanks for your timely and well spoken comment. This is not a wake up call. God has been sounding the alarm clock for a long time. All we did was hit the snooze button and roll over. Late for work or never showing up at all. But you are also on point. God is our only hope. Gloom and doom is not to be a one sided thing. We must, as you powerfully pointed out, point to our Only, Refuge, and eternal hope. God.

Thanks for sharing your series. This is the Word of The Lord.

Thank you! It’s about time someone spoke on this. And from very a biblical perspective. I don’t understand how Christians can believe in judgement in sodom, believe in the judgements on Israel, no rain, famine, and pestilence. Also believe in the plagues on Egypt. Yet think sin has NOTHING to do with Hurricane Sandy…smh. I pray the people, repent! And that God will protect and provide for his remnant there who have not bowed to Baal.

Believe me, I struggled with this because when you have been inundated with the “blessing and highly favored of the Lord” kind of messages, we completely fall short of understanding the real cause of natural disasters. Judgment. As we all know, these storms are rare, but enough to get our attention. As with these storms, death is almost certain. Loss of property is certain. So we must be diligent to make our call and election sure because we do not know when, or where.
