The early church was confronted, and persecuted for its beliefs in Jesus. In comparison, the church today is Club Med. We are riding to the Caribbean on a cruise ship. We are dancing the night away and having a good time. The more you become salt and light in the earth for the Lord Jesus, the more you become a target to be persecuted.
Your finest hour of faith is not going to be your car, house, boat, or money from book royalties. Your finest hour will be your testimony for the sufferings of Christ. Can you fellowship with the sufferings of Christ?
We’ve been reading our Bibles wrong and we have misquoted so many “stand in faith” Scriptures.
Paul imprisoned many and consented to the deaths of Christians. Yet, Jesus personally enlisted him and Paul ended up being a martyr for the Lord.
Hear what the Lord Jesus said in Mark 10:28-31,
“Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” So Jesus answered and said, “ Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
The thing that we are ready for is the abundance when we leave all for the cause of Christ but we are not really ready for the persecution that is incrementally rising in the United States. We are conveniently comfortable. But all this is about to change whether you are ready for it or not.
Sexual immorality is the most divisive issue of our day.
When you talk to someone about their sins, sexual sins, Secret Sexual Sins, their participation in sex sins is worth more than money, drugs, alcohol, cars, house, or any other thing.
When you tell someone that they have to give up sexual immorality, you are taking a great risk because they will fight to the death to keep sexual immorality.
It’s not just homosexuality, it’s all sexual sins across the board.
The life of sin is so difficult to break from because of the promise of complete fulfillment.
All sexual sins, or any sins for that matter, gives this promise but it’s just a carrot on a stick that teases.
As the Lord told us, “…and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.”
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation.
The child of God today need to be aware that persecution is part of the price for being a child of God. You are salt and light in the earth and the devil is looking to render you ineffective in your walk before the Lord. If the devil cannot render you ineffective, he will intimidate you.
Fear for your life is one of the many tools that they enemy will use to get you to back away from preaching the truth of the Word of God. That’s why we need to shift our message. Not to confront as radical extremists but to preach the Word of God in season.
You are not liked. You are hated because of Jesus.
Therefore, you are a target. We had it good for a while. Nobody bothered us because we weren’t living lives of conviction. We didn’t have to tell anyone that we were a Christian. We kept things to ourselves but with GPS capabilities attached to your phone. With every credit or debit card purchase. With swiping a card to gain access to your job. When you log on a computer. Whether it is yours or the company you work for, you are being tracked to the maximum.
Your whereabouts is crucial because if they can determine what you believe, all they have to do is see what you’ve been up to and what your habits are.
Yes, big brother is watching you almost to the nano second, everything that you do.
Your habits are telling everyone what you are really about.
Why is this important?
Persecution is about to move from passive annoyance to chasing you.
You don’t think so?
The way that things are set up, do you honestly believe that the world is not going to bother you for your allegiance to Jesus? Do you think that by not carrying a Bible except by electronic devices that no one will discern who you really are?
I am not trying to scare you to live right. I am just warning you that our nice Christianity is about to experience a jolt that will require that you stay vigilant in Jesus. To not be moved away from the hope of the gospel.
If you study the writings of Paul, you will see that they were living in perilous times.
So perilous that if you knew Paul, your life was in danger. Every where Paul went, he started trouble and that’s the kind of Christianity the church is not aware of. We are not packaging a stand to be hated. We are already hated because they hate Jesus. We are not making a “confront the persecutors” package.
But when you know persecution is about to hit this nation for its stand against same sex unions, the sin of homosexuality is becoming the one thing that the world dares the church to unapologetically stand against.
The goal of persecution is to silence the voice of righteousness. To stop the defection from darkness to light (see Acts 26:18). Hence, NO H8’s duct tape over the mouths to silence people that speak the truth about the sin of homosexuality.
Soon, we may see duct tape over the mouths of saints as full blown persecution takes place. At this point, murder is against the law but we may see the day where the murder of a child of God that speaks the truth, and is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, is welcomed news.
It is interesting that the Book of Romans starts off talking about not being ashamed of the gospel of Christ and then in that same chapter, ends up preaching against same sex relations, the sin of homosexuality.
It really fascinates me to know that God was preparing His people for the hour we are now living in.
People of God, we are in the end times and this is not the time to be ashamed of Jesus.
This is the time to be firmly planted in the faith of Christ.
If you read the writings of Paul, you will see that many people that were once in the church left because of the persecution. But it wasn’t the only reason. Sadly, some people loved sin more than they loved the Lord.
Many were turned away to listen to other false teachers and prophets that had major connections to sexual immorality. If that is not enough, the persecution comes directly from members of the Body of Christ; people that supposed to “know God and their Bibles.”
You won’t know what a person believes until the moment of truth.
Just look at your family members.
How many of them are caught up in situations of the world of sexual immorality or substance abuse? You know that they know that you are into the Lord and His Word. The moment a conversation goes into Jesus, they are quick to shout you down because of their love for sin.
When you go to church, you didn’t expect so and so to be a practicing homosexual. You didn’t expect your pastor to come out of the closet and admit to his or her homosexuality and then persecute the righteous for not being tolerant. You didn’t expect that so many people would be for the president when he announced his support for gay marriages.
All of a sudden, the local church is seeing the demarcation. There is a deep divide on a simple sin/righteousness issue (see 2 Corinthians 6:14-18). And the divide in most local churches is not surprising.
In some cases, there’s no divide at all. The whole local church is for sexual immorality or the whole local church is for righteousness.
The hour we are living in is late and dark. We must make up our minds to stand in the face of persecution and dig deeper into Him like never before.
The hearts of men are failing everywhere and the world is proceeding on a perilous course that will separate the weak from the strong. The desperate for sin from the desperate for God. If you haven’t experienced the hatred, and the false prophets of our times to deceive many, you will.
