Handling Pastoral Discouragement And Disappointments

Disappointed? Discouraged?

Discouragement is defined as the feeling of despair in the face of obstacles.

Over the course of the years, very few pastors escape discouragement.

This emotion, as well as other emotions in the life of an undisciplined pastor, usually drives these pastors into isolation that may involve drugs, alcohol, and sexual immorality. Why? The pain of despair or discouragement will seek places of sin to appease failure and other hurts of the soul that only God could heal.

I can testify very well about this area.

Usually, new and even seasoned pastors experience discouragement related to lack of church growth and ministerial ineffectiveness.

No pastor walks into the pastoral ministry expecting failure.

Every pastor dreams, envisions, and expects tremendous success.

When discouragement comes, many pastors go into search mode. Some go into prayer and fasting to seek the face of God. Others go to statistics and church growth books. Many go to the Internet to see if they could mirror other successful ministries to glean from their successes in hopes of encountering the same measure of success. Not realizing that sometimes, you are reading what God gave them to grow their ministry and all you are doing is spending hard earned money on their God ordained methods and means of the past that worked for them.

There is a reason why it may not work.

Ask yourself this question and then answer it honestly.

Are you doing what God told you to do?

If you are doing what God told them to do and attempt to do what God told them to do, unless you were divinely instructed, you may be walking in disobedience. There is nothing wrong with reading to be encouraged but the one thing that you need to walk away with after you are finished reading their books is “Are you doing what God told you to do?”

When you are not experiencing what you expect to happen in your ministry and other pastors seem to be hitting their stride, in the back of your mind you are definitely wondering if you have heard from God. Many pastors begin their ministries with tremendous expectations, excitement, great moves of the Spirit of the Lord. No pastor walks into his or her ministry expecting anything less.

Every pastor expects their ministry to be fruitful and multiply. It is God’s will that you and your ministry be fruitful and multiply. In looking at the demographics, it is true that city size varies and that’s something that must be considered.

Fruitful ministry is not just in church size but in discipleship. Effective ministry is when you are maturing the saints. At the same time, you cannot sit there and teach the same saints all year long. If there are others that has not heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and your town only has ten unsaved folk, there is much work to be done to reach them for Jesus.

So size is a relative term based on demographics but effectiveness, and even ineffectiveness isn’t.

So, what’s the problem?

Why aren’t we experiencing growth? After sowing much seed, why is there no harvest? Is there something wrong with us? Are we doing everything reasonably possible to fish for men? Or is the reason and purpose for existing lost?

After these and other questions, discouragement sets in very quickly. Pastors try to keep a “faith face” on so the rest of the small congregation won’t be contaminated. But underneath all that, everyone sees the “reality.”

Something is definitely wrong.

Sometimes a new pastor will question the call of God on their lives. Many began walking away and closing the church doors in the mind, and it’s a matter of time before they close the doors and physically walk away for good. Many new pastors blame their small congregation for their “lack of faith” and “ineffectiveness” in evangelism.

Instead of rallying the troops, he or she belittles them and make them feel insignificant.

Bad move!

Then the faithful few turn on their pastors and begins to belittle their calling.

Bad move!

Many of the new pastors even pray for new people to replace the ones that are there.

Bad move! Unless the people in that church is revolting against pastoral leadership.

Sometimes, people do what they want to do instead of doing what the Lord instructed them to do to help their pastor grow the work. Sometimes pastors are too strong willed and never let people be free to help the church grow by introducing Biblically founded means and methods to evangelize.

What is a new pastor to do?

Let’s look at it from the fact that you know that you were called by the Lord.

Let’s begin there.

Undeniably, you’ve heard the Lord call your name and you know very well that the voice and direction of the Lord was clear. Wisdom demanded that you seek wise, God ordained counsel of your pastor and other seasoned men and women of God in pastoral ministry for insight, instruction, encouragement, and confirmation.

After sitting down and putting on paper your God ordained vision, what you believe the Lord commanded you to accomplish, and other pertinent information (Habakkuk 2:1-2), you set out to incorporate your ministry, and secure a location to have your services.

As you set out, some of you may have left alone or with a few folk at the onset.

These are called the faithful few.

As time progresses, week after week, the few remain the few.

Every now and then, a couple of people come to visit but, for whatever reason, they do not stay. Along with your other plans, you set out to evangelize. No new pastor could do no wrong by evangelizing their AOR or Area Of Responsibility.

After all, that’s what the primary purpose of church existence. To… “make disciples of all the nations…”

Sadly, most new pastors do not have a plan to evangelize.

They expect the Lord to draw sinners in and this is true, to a degree. God is capable of drawing anyone to the location where the Lord wants them to go, however, we are still supposed to evangelize.

The thing that may be absent is securing help from the Holy Spirit.

In all reality, depending upon their ministerial upbringing, new pastors expect other believers from other churches to fill the seats and depending upon their pastoral or ministerial reputation that precedes them, they do attract other believers from already established churches.

As time progresses, little to no fruit is produced.

This is troubling for many new pastors because of the level of expectation of watching God grow your ministry.

After a while, discouragement sets in.

Exactly what the devil planned. The last thing that the devil wants is for another place to be packed with hungry souls that hunger and thirst after God.

So the enemy will use every tool at his disposal to keep you from hearing from God to implement a unique plan suited for your ministry.

So how does a pastor deal with all of this and discouragement?

1. Stop Sulking!

First, sitting there sulking all the time is not going to help you get out of discouragement.

Past failures is not indicative of future results.

In other words, do not let what happened in the past fool you into thinking that this is what will be for the rest of your ministerial life. Just as poverty is a mentality, ministerial failure is a mentality as well. If you think you are not going anywhere, you will not go anywhere. It is only when you begin to change what you’ve been thinking and meditating on that things begin to change.

Joel 3:10 says, “Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’

In other words, it’s time to change what you have been doing and thinking.

You need to change your mentality from farming to fighting.

This isn’t about harvest. This is about mindsets. You have to fight to adjust what your mind is thinking about.

Never mind about your current condition, take up God’s condition and position for you.

You are strong! God knows that you can’t do it with your own strength but with God strengthening you, you can.

Don’t look at the empty seats in your church except to see them filled.

See it, say it, expect it, and then go out, and get them.

They are ordained to be disciples of Jesus. There are people ordained to sit in those chairs. But not just to sit in the chairs. They are destined to move into volunteer positions to help the church in the work of the ministry to affect change in the community where the church is assigned.

They are destined to be a part of something great in the earth.

The kingdom of God.

The greatest marketing tool is the believer bought by the blood of the Lamb.

2 Corinthians 3:2-3 says, “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”

Joshua 1:7-9 is the tale of the tape to get out of discouragement.

Every morning, you must wake up with one purpose in mind. Praise God and defy the devil. You must learn to wake up every morning to confound the enemy.

2. Personal Daily Devotion

Get back into the place of personal devotion before the Lord.

If you’ve been away from the Lord, just repent and return. The Lord will not hold it against you. He forgives and then He gives grace to the humble.

There are many pastors that do not make time to meet with the Lord in prayer and personal reading of the Scriptures. This is how the enemy gets a stronghold established.

Sin is not far behind.

Secret Sexual Sins.

You cannot let the enemy win this battle to take your heart. In the secret place of the Most High is where you will gain strength and victory for each moment. Keep your mind stayed on God starts with making God first place in your life. Make devotion to God the breakfast of Champions. More Biblically speaking, the Breakfast of More Than Conquerors.

3. Faith Is Contagious!

Faith in God is contagious. Contagious means capable of being transmitted by infection. You need to infect people with what God told you. In the same way, fear, doubt, and unbelief is contagious. If you study the book of Numbers, it is a clear picture of double minded people. God had to show them miracle after miracle that He is capable. But they refused because immediately doubt and unbelief would overcome them. All throughout the history of the Jews, nothing but unbelief plagued them.

As a pastor, if they see that you are quick to give up, they will give up too. If they are quick to stand in faith with you, they will stand with you and they will help you do the work God called you to do. It’s either going to be faith or fear, belief or unbelief.

Which will it be?

4. Boldly Communicate What The Lord Said.

You need to communicate exactly what God will do in terms of what your assignment is and the success that will follow as a result.

Stop murmuring and complaining about what you do not have, what others are doing to attempt to stop you, stop talking doubt, unbelief, and any non productive, in operative, unfruitful word. Bite your tongue. Do anything to keep negative demonic words from flowing out of your mouth. Just as God is moved by your faith in His Word, the devil is moved and obliged to honor his devilish word flowing out of your mouth.

5. The Faithful Long Haul.

If you believe that you are called by God to pastor a church from scratch, you need to make sure that you are prepared for the long haul.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 says, “I returned and saw under the sun that- The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill but time and chance happen to them all.”

As a note, time and chance happen to THEM, not to the ones that walk in God’s plans and purposes.

Who is the “THEM?”

The swift, the strong, the wise, the men of understanding, and the men of skill.

The race, the battle, the bread, the riches, and the favor is given to those that do not use their own wisdom to win.

The race, the battle, the bread, the riches, and the favor was given to those that trust in God alone.

6. The Great Commission.

God is counting on you to hear from Him His divine instructions, wisdom, and guidance. Everything that you need is in the Great Commission. You cannot fail when you do exactly what the Lord told you to do in line with the Great Commission. If you attempt to build His church another way, it must fail.

But when you do it in accordance with Matthew 28:18-20, expect success.

Launch out into the deep and let your nets down for a catch.

7. Be Found Doing What God Told You To Do

As I have said before, we have been making other prominent pastors more rich by reading their God given means and methods that made their ministries successful. It is time for you to look to the Lord and dust off that vision you wrote down that started your ministry. It is time to pray God’s will in the earth for your ministry. It is time to seek God for what He gave you.

Do not get me wrong. Again, when you are directed by the Holy Spirit to read what they did, learn this one lesson.

All they did was what the Lord told them.

Go back to what the Lord told you to do and be found faithful in doing that.

God will honor His Word He gave to you to perform it.

Father, in the name of Jesus, forgive me of succumbing to the spirit of discouragement. Forgive me for not trusting what you said to me. I believe your promise. Lord, I know that you will work with us to build Your kingdom, Your church. And the gates of hades will not prevail. They will not withstand the pounding of the saints. The devil’s organization to disrupt and confuse the church comes to an end and God, You are Faithful to Your Word that You’ve given to us. We expect souls for your kingdom. We purpose to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in Your Name! We compel men and women to come and fill your house. We expect every chair to be filled because it is Your will. We expect great success because You have ordained it so. We will be willing and obedient. We will be fruitful and multiply. We are the laborers sent into His harvest. And we will work while it is day. All that the Lord gives us, the fruit will remain. We speak faith in God and we will see what God promised in His Word to us come to pass. Not in the next generation, but in our lifetime.

AIDS: God’s Gracious Healing Power- You Shall Not Die, But Live!

Over 17 years ago, a young man came to my prayer and study office after Bible Study and told me, in tears almost, that a friend was in the hospital. When he told me who he was, I was almost in tears too. He was diagnosed with AIDS a while back but he told very few people. It was only until he was on his deathbed that the reality of his passing came.

Back in the early 80’s and in the 90’s, we all knew that it was an automatic death sentence. Today, more people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, worldwide. There is no question that HIV/AIDS is a pandemic. However, through a reduced combination of medicine, HIV/AIDS patients are able to live longer than in the past. But the stigmatization and the shame of this disease is ever present.

We all know that HIV/AIDS predominantly affects the homosexual community. We all know that the “collateral damage” of babies born from HIV mothers, heterosexual women practicing extremely risky sex, patients receiving contaminated blood transfusions, accidental needle pricks of drug users, and other unfortunate incidences, raises the stakes of collateral damage.

This is not about arguments of judgment concerning the pandemic of our times. It is very easy for me to resume the soapbox and preach to the choir but it’s not about that.

After my wife and I left our second home church to resume Prevailing Word Ministries, my pastor called me to discuss the issue at hand. At that point, we knew what needed to be done.

Minister the healing grace of Jesus.

Up until that point, my wife and several of our believing friends ministered in various places and hospitals in the NYC area. Brookdale, Kings County, and Brooklyn Hospital. The sick and shut in our first home church would be in these hospitals and we decided to go throughout the floors to pray for folk to get healed. We’ve seen the Lord heal people of minor things in these hospitals. The people in these hospitals were already on the mend and were receiving medicine for whatever it was that they had.

However, there is nothing wrong with seeking the Lord to heal them any way. The following week, at King’s County Hospital, the beds that they were in were either empty or a different patient would occupy them. Without skipping a beat, we would pray for them too. Some refused prayer and others received prayer. However, there would be one patient that would remain. She would breathe with her mouth wide open and would be unresponsive. Years later, we still didn’t know why she didn’t respond to our prayers.

The one thing that we know is that regardless, humans are not responsible for the outcome, much less, have the power to alter the course and destiny of whether a person gets healed or not. We are just to obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit to minister God’s healing power and leave the results up to the Lord.

Too often, we take too much upon ourselves to try to make God heal or declare that He is not God when a person doesn’t get healed. The last thing you want to do is accuse God of something that sometimes humans may be responsible for. Sometimes people want to die and not receive deliverance. Other times, people desire to be healed, get prayed for, receive medicine, and still leave the earth. Other times, the Lord heals them, with or without medicine.

The healing power of God is a great mystery and it is not our job to be accusing God of not doing what He said He would do in His Word. We do not have the entire picture when it comes to the will of people and what sick people want. It is true that no sick person wants to stay sick. Sick people want to be made well. Otherwise, there is no use for a hospital or the healing power of God for that matter.

In one case, a youth pastor friend of mine and I went to a hospital to minister to a terminally ill cancer patient. Almost the entire church was in prayer for her. She had stomach cancer. The power of “concerted intercessory prayer” or the “prayer of agreement” is one of the best ways for believers to join their faith in the Word of God and watch God do some of the most miraculous things we’ve ever witnessed.

As we were in the hospital praying for this lady, we laid hands upon her and anointed her with oil.

Over time, the manifestation of answered prayer came to pass. She was healed of stomach cancer. There was another lady in the same room with cancer and she died.

The lady that we prayed for, her name was Mrs. Walker.

She lived, if I remember correctly, over ten years after that healing. Full of life. The rest of her days, she was able to enjoy life in the Lord. Yes, her stomach was removed, and surgery played a role in her healing but God still gets the glory and the credit. Eventually, she went home to be with the Lord, but not because of a relapse.

To my knowledge, she died cancer free.

Any way, getting back to the story. I was asked to go to the hospital and minister to him. If you ever been to a hospital where they care for AIDS patients, it’s like walking into a death camp. We had to wear masks because at this stage of the AIDS in him, his immune system was severely compromised, he lost a considerable amount of weight, and death was imminent.

To my knowledge, when the immune system is compromised, any germs could kill.

He laid in bed looking like a corpse. He told me that he had already made out his home going wishes in a letter and went over a little bit of what he wanted in the service with a friend. After going over his final requests, the person with his letter left the room.

I could have cried right there but it wasn’t the time to cry.

I looked at this individual and I received a phone call from my former pastor of my second home church. We knew what had to be done. After receiving that phone call, I looked at him and the Scripture the Lord brought to my remembrance was Psalm 118:17.

“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” Verse 18 was interesting. “The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.”

Here he was. Severely chastened because of homosexuality but the word of the Lord ministered life to him.

I told him that you can’t leave. There is too much in you for you to leave. Start speaking and declaring that you shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. We spent that time doing just that. Confessing the Word of healing in that room. On the days that I would visit, I would share that same Word, over and over, and over again.

There wasn’t anything spectacular like signs and wonders, screaming and shouting, or “falling under the power” spectacle. Just the simple administration of the truth of God’s Word about healing and the Lord took care of the rest according to his faith. God is moved by faith in His Word.

Over the years, I’ve also came to realize that faith is an act. It’s not just the words and believing those words, the brother took steps of faith. He prepared himself to die, reversed course and, prepared himself to live.

And yes, there would be times of correcting him severely when I detected a relapse of faith in the Word of the Lord. Sometimes, you have to keep a person focused if they are to receive healing from the Lord.

After declaring that he should not be talking about death but declare his healing. After a few weeks of ministering that specific word of the Lord, his mindset changed from accepting death to receiving the Word of God about life.

At that time, the cocktails of medicine regiment was being formulated. A series of medicines were administered to help his immune system repair itself. Now, that’s fine, the medicine and all, but death is a mindset. I will never argue about medicine because the doctors are fighting the same diseases as preachers are.

The moment you decide you want to go, nothing can stop you. However, his mindset changed. He meditated on that Word in Psalm 118:17 and with the help of his parents and I, and a cane, he was able to walk out under his own power, propped up by the healing grace of God.

Faith is an act. He acted out his faith by taking steps he couldn’t take before because of his weakened condition. But each step of faith was a step of life in the Word of God. Watching this brother take step after step out of that hospital was like watching Peter walk on the water because the only thing that kept Peter’s feet dry was the word “Come.”

No wheel chair. Just the power of God holding him up, a cane, and his family. He walked out of the house of death into life. To this date, he is a testimony wherever he goes. It doesn’t get any better when you are at death’s door, only to not pass through because of the grace of God and faith in God’s Word.

Why don’t others get healed? Why do we see such suffering and tragedy? Every story is different. Every person is different. But God is the same. His Word is the same. We must remember that sin brought about sickness and disease.

Many have passed into eternity, but for God’s reason and glory, he is a testimony of God’s mercy and miraculous healing power. Again, medicine did play a role but God still gets the credit and glory for it.

I asked God about medicine one day and after years of being ready to receive an answer, the Lord said this.

“Healing can come from Me through the earth where medicine is extracted because the principles of healing the body in the natural may come from the healing principles in the elements I placed in the earth. Or healing can come from My hand. Both of which comes from Me. Whether I create a doctor with knowledge to minister healing or the simple laying on of hands by faith or both. All healing comes from Me.”

There are some things that the Lord will not tell you just yet because of the immaturity of the child of God. When the right time comes and you are ready for it, the answer comes. That’s part of being patient.

I’ve seen a former male prostitute who got saved, and had a powerful testimony, and was strong in prayer, and praise and worship, went home to be with the Lord. I’ve led a cousin of mine diagnosed with AIDS, to the Lord before he passed away. This cousin was the son of a long lost Aunt on my mother’s side and she, my late Aunt, asked me to come and pray for him.

After I led him in the Sinner’s Prayer, he received Jesus as Lord just a few days before he passed away.

His mother, Aunt Millie, a deaconess at a Baptist church in Long Island, went home to be with the Lord a few years after her son. Just imagine after seeing Jesus, the joyful reunion.

I’ve seen cancer patients get ministered the Word of God, fall into relapse and go home to be with the Lord. It seems I had more defeats than victories but that doesn’t change the Word of God and God’s graciousness to turn the life of a sick person around and bring life, and health to their bones. No matter which way it goes, if you are a believer in the Lord, if you have confessed your sins, and received eternal life through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, healing is still the children’s bread. And should you pass away in the Lord, your body that is planted in the ground will rise as a seed planted in the ground from corruption to incorruption. All is not lost.

If you know someone that has this, or any disease, just go to the Lord in Psalm 118:17-18, and pray this prayer of faith. God is still able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you ask of think according to the power that works in you.

Finally, God doesn’t heal so you can go back into the lifestyle. He heals so that you can be a testimony about His graciousness, His lovingkindness, and His tender-mercies was abundantly poured upon you in your darkest moment. Sin opened the door to judgment but when you turn to the Lord in godly sorrow that works repentance, this puts you squarely in the place where you become eligible for God’s miraculous healing power.

You shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord! The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.”

Eddie Long? King?: New Birth Under Strong Delusion!

Just Stop Using OT Symbology For NT Living

Just Stop It!!!!

We have seen a lot of controversial presentations and teaching over the years that bring into question, not only the people that purport these presentations, but obviously the source of their teachings and doctrines. It goes with saying that when it comes to the Bible, we can make a doctrine sound so convincingly “anointed.”

Just recently, I observed, by way of Facebook from another source, Eddie Long being anointed “king?” You Gotta Be Kidding Me!!!!

I thank Lutricia Abdullah, and give the credit to her for posting that YouTube presentation on my FB page. She actually got it from Minister Danita Waller Paige. It takes courage to post a troubling video to point out the spirit of error operating in the church in this age of apostasy.

While watching this on YouTube, my heart cried out because I look at the people and no one is stopping the onslaught of incorrect teaching in the Body of Christ. Eddie Long invited this guy. What amazes me is that when you invite someone, you want people to know what’s behind this invitation.

And there was no question in my mind that a “reinvention” or a “re-anointing and kingship” of personal exaltation before the people was the purpose.

When you look bad before the people because of a Secret Sexual Sins scandal, you will look for ways to make yourself look good.

After all. Image is everything.

When your wife divorced you and people are saying some things, both true and bad, you want to do something to bolster your persona. When you are losing money in the millions, you need to do something to keep the cash cow flowing.

It’s not about getting before the Lord in repentance.

There’s a lot of Eddie Long supporters that are so delusional that if God stood next to Eddie Long, they would worship Eddie Long and tell God to go stand in the corner.

When you steal the hearts of the people away from God, it is no different than satan stealing the hearts of the people when he killed Adam and Eve in the Garden.

If you want to do OT, go ahead and get some sackcloth and ashes and help yourself!

A couple of years ago, we’ve seen controversial teaching about the ark of the covenant. Some of you may remember Juanita Bynum’s album, “Behind The Veil.” She also did some presentations with the ark of the covenant. Creating replicas and the anointing oil. It’s astounding to the mind as to why people are going backwards in their Bibles.

When you read these 39 OT books, it leads you into the 27 NT books.

The OLD leads into the NEW!!!!!

Why is it that preachers and NT believers go backwards into the OT?

There is a reason.

When you are not walking by faith and you are walking by sight, that’s the OT.

God had to move by sight because Israel didn’t believe.

The Lord God moved through signs and wonders to convince the children of Israel that He is God.

But they paid no mind (see Hebrews 4:1).

In some cases, right after the Lord would perform a miracle, they still didn’t believe Him. They murmured and complained. Sounds like most NT believers today.

The true purpose of faith is to get you to believe God apart from the external reasoning that is before us to completely trust in the living God.

All through the OT, we see God moving and Israel disbelieving Him.

The tangible presence of God is a wonder to behold. The Lord showed up after the Tabernacle of Moses was completed and erected. The pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. The presence of the Lord is a wonder to behold. When the Tabernacle of Solomon was completed and after Solomon made his dedicatory prayer, the Lord showed Himself in the Shekinah Glory.

There is no arguing when the visible presence of the Lord is amongst His people in the OT.

What about the NT?

How does the Lord show Himself in the NT?

The fruit of the Spirit which is a revelation of the character and nature of God, living out the life of Christ in complete trust and strict obedience to the teachings of Jesus, the Anointed One.

Christ in you, the expectation or hope of glory.

If people cannot perceive the life of Jesus in you then they are intentionally blind, you are a babe in Christ, or the Word is intentionally disobeyed through willful neglect.

The true manifestation of the sons of God is not in behavior only. It’s about accepting and wholly adhering to what Jesus taught and living that teaching every moment as a true disciple of Christ.

There is no question about the external displays of God’s presence, but we must be careful.

We see in Acts chapter one that the Lord Jesus said to the disciples to tarry in the city of Jerusalem until they be endued with power from on high.

On the day of Pentecost, exactly 50 days after the Lord was resurrected, the disciples tarried in the upper room. With 120 disciples in attendance during their prayer meeting, the Holy Spirit came like cloven tongues of fire and sat upon each of them. That’s not all. The NT believers receive the initial evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Incidentally, in 2 Chronicles 5:1-14, after Solomon made his prayer, there were 120 priest singing and playing instruments. When they made one sound before the Lord, the Lord showed Himself.

In both of these instances, the Lord showed Himself in a mighty way.

The key was that in the OT and in the NT, they were both on one accord.

This is the prerequisite for any move of God. There must be an assembly of unified believers before God will manifest His presence. God also showed up when Nimrod built the demonic tower of Babel. The people were of one language and the Lord knew that if they stayed one under demonic conditions, nothing would get in their way. Their languages were confused and they were dispersed.

Now the difference between these two incidences, Acts and 2 Chronicles, was the external temple made with bricks and the personal temple in the hearts of people.

The new birth in Christ is the difference.

When God created the Tabernacle it was a temporary outward symbol until a permanent inward dwelling called “habitation of God by the Spirit,” would take place through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

Why do we go backwards?

It is apparent that people want a move of God. A tangible, visible move or manifestation of God. And some of these pursuits is nothing more than mysticism and spiritism. Especially when there is no Biblical or Scruptural authority, foundation, or harmonic Scriptural confirmation.

Prominent church leaders that see no harm, believers that see no harm must beware of the spiritual compromise that lurks in their egregious affirming of Eddie Long’s action as depicted in this video.

Such affirmation reveals a sinister connection to seducing spirits and doctrine of devils. To just assume that Eddie Long is misguided, confused, or otherwise, without understanding that every move he made, was meticulously calculated, is the spirit of strong delusion on the part of deceived believers.

There must come from prominent men and women of God strong condemnation of these actions and not mince words as if you are in the “good old boy’s club.

This is not a “train wreck.”

This is error bordering blaspheme.

It amazes me that people that possess a Bible do not know what the Lord provided for His people. You are sitting in church, and you have a copy of the written Word of God. You have the mind of Christ through the new birth, and the power of the Holy Spirit, and you cannot detect that something is wrong?

No matter how eloquent and smooth talking a person is, if you know what your Bible says, you have to speak up before someone gets deceived.

When the presence of the Lord manifested in the OT, you could see Him every day. In the NT, it’s all about faith without sight.

The book of Hebrews answers all our basic questions about the tabernacle and it’s purpose. God saw fit to explain to us that when you go backwards, you are destroying everything that the Lord did through the Lord Jesus. As Paul said in Galatians 3:24-25, the law was a “schoolmaster” to bring us to Christ.

“Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.”

When you watch that YouTube, please note that the NT is forever established through the blood of Jesus. Not only that but the Lord Jesus is the fulfillment of the law.

Look at what Romans 10:4 says,

“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”

Listen to this out of the Amplified Bible.

“For Christ is the end of the Law [the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him Who is the fulfillment of its types, and in Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled. That is, the purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Him] as the means of righteousness (right relationship to God) for everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him.”

Therefore, my question is simple.

Why do they do it?

I believe that they (Eddie Long and New Birth) are involved in two things.

One. Strong delusion.

Two. When it comes to sin, the Jews took advantage of the annual time of atonement. When you know that your sins of the past year are going to be wiped clean in one year, you would sin as much as you could too.

From time to time, other Jewish religious customs and traditions were implemented that transgress the commandment of the law were introduced as what I would call “egregious evolving tradition.”

This illustrates the error of David who used a new cart to carry the ark of the covenant that God commanded the Levites to carry on their shoulders.

However, we are not living in the OT. We are living in the New Covenant, ratified by the blood of Jesus. The emotional hype overrode the NT Word of God.

If any of them knew their Bible, they should have walked right out.

The NT, we are commanded to repent according to 1 John 1:8-9. In the NT, we are commanded to “…abstain from every form of evil (see 1 Thessalonians 5:22).”

In the OT, atonement meant covering. In the NT, we are washed and made clean from sin by the blood of the Lamb, and we do not have to wait for an annual day of atonement. “Once and for all…” according to Hebrews 9:11-15.

With Eddie Long, we must remember, he never repented. When the allegations came about, he started out by saying that he would defend himself against the allegations.

Five smooth stones and one not thrown yet, equals a smooth talking person with a lot of explaining to do.

Only to end up settling in court for $25 million dollars to seal what actually took place.

You do not settle unless there is overwhelming truth to the allegations.

Everyone in the United States knows that if someone were to bring frivolous charges, if there is no evidence, you will own that fraudulent individual, hands down. When you settle and seal the case, everyone knows that there is something true to the charges.

If it were me. Fred Rochester. I won’t need a law firm. I will demand a speedy trial. I will tell the media this is the truth. I have nothing to hide. They are all liars. Let them bring the charges right here, right now. When it’s time to present the case before a judge. I would not bring it before a jury because of the confidence in the truth. It will be trial by judge. In court, all I have to do is get on the stand. Be examined and cross examined.

When I know I didn’t molest anyone, they better had prayed. Better yet, they better retract the charges, repent, and ask for forgiveness.

There is a difference between saying….“I did not do it” and “I am not the man they portrayed me to be.”

They accused me, let them prove it.

They accused me, I will prove my innocence because I didn’t do it.

That’s the difference!

They better have pictures, DNA, eyewitness testimony, alibi, phone records. The whole nine.

I won’t have to serve a reciprocal lawsuit for slander.

God will take vengeance on my enemies, before, during, or after the trial.

It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

People need to be reminded of Jonathan Edward’s powerful message.

“Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God”

It will not go easy in the hands of an angry God.

If they don’t repent, they are liars, and they will all pay if they do not repent.

Jesus said that it would be better if they commit suicide that to mess with His children. A fate worse than suicide will be the way you will die in the hands of the Lord.

So do yourself a favor.

Commit suicide before the Lord gets a hold of you for slandering His child. God will wipe them like a man that washes a dish to clean a plate, and lay it upside down to dry.

Seven things the Lord hates and He calls it an abomination.

A lying tongue!

The Bible tells us in Revelations 21:8 that “all liars will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.”

There is no need for NT believers to incorporate OT symbology when Christ fulfilled the law. Man is incapable of living up to the law so Jesus came and lived the law out for man, in man’s place. Sinless. Not only that, but He became the Mediator of a better covenant, established upon better promises.

There is no need to enter into His gates when the child of God is seated in heavenly places in Christ. You are already in the Holy of holies by the blood of sprinkling.

You are already in the presence of the Lord by faith in the blood of Jesus.

Why yearn for something or Someone when He lives within you?

Why get wrapped with a Torah when you are already wrapped in His arms.

The people at New Birth are under strong delusion.

They do not know their God and their Bible. They are trusting in the arm of flesh instead of God.

People of God, you have a Bible, and plenty of reasonably God anointed teachers of the NT. Someone should have gotten up on the stage and said that… “This is not God!”

There is only one King of kings and Lord of lords.

Why are we so bent on lifting up flesh of fallen men? Are we trying to hide and cover sin or are we supposed to confess and forsake sin?

Why use the OT to pronounce a new anointing when the OT is incapable of giving any anointing. Remember, the Lord ripped the veil in two pieces, signifying that the way into the holiest is open to all who will accept the provision of salvation through the blood of Jesus.

The OT is incapable of giving NT believers a new anointing. The new anointing happened on the day of Pentecost. All you have to do is accept by faith and grace the provisions of the Lord. We do not have to use OT symbology to live in the NT.

All we have to do is obey what Jesus taught us.

It would have been grand if Eddie Long would have stopped and said, “Something isn’t right. Lord, I repent.”

It would have been something if Eddie Long would have led New Birth in the prayer of repentance.

When you are in strong delusion, you will not consider repentance because any admission before the people that believe in you would be a tremendous loss.

But that loss would have been of great gain.

The throne of God’s people’s, their hearts, would have been cleansed for God to resume His Lordship over Eddie Long and New Birth.

Stay away from strong delusion wrapped in hype and emotion.

It’s deadly and it will cost you your life.
