The most destructive thing a person can do is create self deception through hypocrisy.
David wrote Psalm 51 after he murdered one of his most loyal warriors. David, a man after God’s own heart, murdered Uriah, the Hittite, because David committed adultery with Uriah’s wife and got her pregnant.
To cover his sin, he summoned Uriah from the battle to have him have sex with his wife. Uriah’s loyalty to David was something that David didn’t count on.
Uriah was sent to the front lines of the hottest spot of battle and was killed.
We see that Nathan confronted David with his sins.
Adultery and murder.
It was a pivotal moment in David’s life. David, by God’s help, was able to kill Goliath with one stone and Goliath’s own sword but the true Goliath of his life was Secret Sexual Sins.
Lurking within David was hidden life of urges and impulses. When you refuse to mortify the deeds of the flesh, when you refuse to kill, deaden, and deprive of power (see Colossians 3:5 AMP), you will succumb to it’s desires.
God gave David the kingdom from Saul who rebelled. It made Saul’s sin seemed like a trivial matter. In either case, neither one of them ended very well. Saul died in battle with his sons and David was chased by his own sons.
His only grace was a son born by Bathsheba named Solomon to sit on the throne of David. David wanted to build a temple for God but the Lord said that David had too much blood on his hands.
The deception of David had a lot to do with his undisciplined sex life and the four “E’s” of leaders should they walk in pride and arrogance.
Elitism, empowerment, entitlement, expediency.
Like David, when you have proven your ministry by killing “Goliath” and watching the Lord give into your hand enemy after enemy, there was nothing left to conquer.
Sexual immorality is a conquest few men now how to defeat. It is there that the true essence of a man’s heart is revealed.
Deception is the ability to mislead or cause people or oneself to believe an illusion.
During the Vietnam war by the coasts, a false insertion was a tactic constantly used by Navy Seals when they want to mislead the VietCong or NVA into thinking that a landing will take place and an attack will happen where they first inserted. The Seals would pull back and land at a place where the enemy would not expect them to ambush or capture the enemy.
It’s called the element of surprise and stealth by deception.
There are many pastors that live secret lives where they live in complete self deception.
They must first be deceived because they have to believe themselves that others will never catch on to what is really going on in their self concealed secret lives.
They believe that their image must be protected to further their ability to keep their sin alive. In the case of pastors with “mega churches,” it’s all about keeping his empire going.
If a “love child” resulted in his adulterous relationship, preaching engagements is about child support. When their sin is pointed out because of an unrepentant life, they will accuse others of “stone throwing.”
At the conclusion, it is not stone throwing.
In the end of that episode, if the men would had stayed around, they would have learned a very powerful lesson that Jesus gave to the woman caught in the act of adultery. The men didn’t walk away because they were wrong in bringing a woman caught in adultery to be stoned. They were wrong with having known sin in their lives and they were about to kill a woman without the man (see Leviticus 20:10).
And the lesson is not just about having mercy and compassion.
“Go and sin no more.”
Why do deceived preachers and deceived people miss this?
“Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not!
Jesus no more wanted the men to keep on sinning than the woman.
He wanted them all to stop sinning.
So stop using a partial quote of that passage and employ the entire passage.
When you see them preach, it’s never about blessing people. Pastors in adulterous relationships will never flow in the Word because their witness and their relationship with God is unquestionably compromised.
And gullible, deceived people, knowing that they slept with “so and so” will sit under no anointing just to hear that “mand of Gawd.”
Just because we are human is no excuse to disrespect the Lord and the standard of the Word. “Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever.” (see Psalm 93:5).
This is not about legalism. This is about what the Lord expects of His people according to 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 and 7:1.
It’s painful for sin to be exposed in the lives of sexual conquest minded pastors. When I exposed what I was doing with porn and masturbation, it was painful, but it was the path of least resistance.
I have no business in the pulpit today. The Lord did fire me but He rehired me to take this message of Secret Sexual Sins and Come Clean Stay Clean as far as He wants me to take it.
Preachers are to be trusted but when they twist and abuse Scriptures it’s because they are also attempting to deceive God and His people that caught on to what self deceived pastors are doing. Pastors that walk in self deception and intentionally set out to deceive others are disqualified from trust and are exempt from the protection afforded them in Psalm 105:15.
In confusion, people will still sit under these self deceived pastors because it’s no longer about the truth. Where else will they go where their Secret Sexual Sins are safe? Exposure or even the remote possibility of dealing with sin is the furthest thing from their minds. It’s easier to say, ‘He’s only human,’ Instead of siding in with God.
It is sin.
They make themselves out to think that the Lord is on their side when, because of self deception, the Lord refuses to join Himself to their lies. God is merciful and He still forgives and restores according to His terms, however……
“God is not a man that He should lie.”
“It is impossible for God to lie.”
When it comes to Secret Sexual Sins, the key word is secret.
A secret is something that should remain hidden from others.
How is this accomplished?
The anointing and spiritual talk that has nothing to do with the hidden compartments of their lives is how this is accomplished.
As you know, deception first occurred in heaven because satan deceived himself into thinking that he could successfully dethrone God. He conned one out of three angels (see Isaiah 14:12, Ezekiel 28:14-19, and Revelation 12:4). The next place of deception was the Garden that was east of Eden (pleasure) when satan deflected attention away from Eve concerning what the Lord said. When the deception was enough for Eve to further question what God said, the next thing that happens is a bald face lie.
Eve, unprotected by her husband was left to her own reasoning. Completely influenced by the devil’s deftly twisting of what God said, it became outright murder (see John 8:44).
As a result, all are under sin (see Romans 5:12).
Deception will always lead to death.
“…and sin when it is finished brings forth death.” James 1:15.
When you desire to accomplish revolving door sinning, it important for a person to continue to deceive him or herself by believing they could get away with it. After that, they must continue to believe it until one of two things happen.
One, they die in their deception.
Two, they acknowledge the truth.
For many, after years of living a lie of utter deception, it is too hard for them to reveal the deep parts of their lives. They refuse to Come Clean. To come to terms with truth because of an unwillingness to conclude that what they were doing all along was keep 100 plates on a stick spinning without letting them fall and break into pieces.
Such is the case with Secret Sexual Sins.
In the private lives of most pastors is porn and self gratification, commonly called masturbation. We do not have any conclusive evidence that David was a habitual masturbator. However, when it comes to urges and impulses, David was just like any man. He lusted after Bathsheba with his heart before he had her in the king’s chambers.
Speculation and preponderance is not where we need to go but if I were a betting man, David probably had issues with controlling his sexual appetite.
When it comes to covering Secret Sexual Sins, David went crazy because discovery would be detrimental to his image as a king before the people. He didn’t even consider God, which is the first Person David hurt. God gave him the kingdom and wives, yet, David treated God like as if He were a nonexistent Person.
The worst element involved in deception is when you no longer hear the heart of God but you act like God hears you and you act like He is on your side. Deceived pastors run down the list of alleged blessings and wave it in everyone’s face.
These deceived, adulterous pastors always say, “See, I did what I did and I accept responsibility but God is blessing me.” They rarely say, “I’ve sinned! I repent.” They never put it all on the table in measurable genuine transparency.
God will never bless our mess. He will forgive us but the seed we’ve sown must manifest a bumper crop harvest if we continue in the deception.
Even when they marry their mistress, some of them are so delusional that they call their mistress a blessing. Deceived pastors on this level will always deflect responsibility, never accept it.
In one case, a female predator in a church had married two other men and divorced them both. Both men were members of the same church. The second husband she married, after she was ordained into the ministry, reportedly backslid into the world, never to be seen again after pledging his love and support. She finally crossed the line by stealing a married pastor from his wife.
To say the least, his sin caught up with him. It’s boggles the mind when two sexual predators start hunting for each other. Such was the case in this church. They both were sexual predators before they “hooked up.”
As with all Jezebels, when they marry an able bodied pastor expecting to be established as a “powerfully anointed couple,” God will not allow them or their ministry to be blessed. There is no grace because they’ve abused grace. There is no anointing because the presence of the Lord will not inhabit the camp as an endorsement for their sin (see 1 Samuel 2:12-36 and chapters 3 and 4).
It may appear that others would get away with it but Ecclesiastes 8:10-13 is there to remind us that no one gets away with it.
God will not endorse sin and deception. With his life physically reduced due to a severe illness that almost killed him, it is just a matter of time before she will begin hunting for another abled body pastor.
This pastor, as an example, will only be used by God when he Come Clean about his entire life from start to finish.
There comes a point in time when you will be worn out by the deception and you will let all the plates filled with lies and deception fall to the ground and break. And with a downturn economy, things couldn’t be more worse for him.
Jezebels never marry for worse, for poorer, or for sickness.
Desertion is a tough pill to swallow.
Their only goal is to rule with an iron fist. They have no clue that it will catch up to them as we all know it will. In the end, all Jezebels die a brutal death unless they repent and Come Clean.
All of them.
Make no mistake about it.
Even in this level of deception, when she departs, he will not believe it.
Face it young pastor, a Jezebel is never worth the price of a bedroom romp. Young pastor, an immoral woman is the steps towards Sheol. Young pastor, you will be brought to a piece of bread and or lose your life.
If you are married, embrace your wife. Never embrace the bosom of an immoral woman. She is nothing but trouble. And you will never escape the stigmatization of being unfaithful (see Proverbs chapters 5, 6, and 7).
David crossed the line and had to figure out a way to cover his tracks. Deception, self deception, when acted upon will cause you to make irrational decisions. Again every lie that begins must have life if the deception is going to work. Running and chasing after every spinning plate (the lie) will sooner or later catch up with you. After the first crash, it is inevitable that all lying plates that is left spinning will come crashing down too.
It’s too much for a person to admit they were wrong.
Not realizing that the same effort to keep a lie going is the same effort that could have been used to speak and live the truth.
As long as they are unwilling to come to the knowledge of the truth, they will live in bondage to their sins of self deception to keep sin in their lives.
And anyone that attempts to speak truth in their dark places may receive the brunt of their anger and they will bite, and deposit venom into your veins in hopes that you would go away and die.
David thought that he was successful in keeping his sin concealed. As we read the story, we read it, not in real time. It was over the course of a few months, prior to the birth of the child that God had to bring a prophet in to confront David.
God does give us space to repent but that space may be long or short. It all depends upon the severity and how God deals with the situation.
David was judged. The child died because God would not endorse David’s Secret Sexual Sins. God would judge David’s Secret Sexual Sins in the noon day sun (see 2 Samuel 12:12).
What puzzles me the most when the people of God see their pastors Secret Sexual Sins exposed in the open or they had to step down, these same people have the nerve and audacity to use David’s sin of adultery and murder to deflect attention away from the severity of their pastor’s Secret Sexual Sins.
Folks, the worst thing in the world that you could do is justify sin.
These stories are in the Bible to remind us not to sin the sins of their time. Yet, people insist that their pastor is still as good as gold. Let, their good overshadow their bad.
Folks, David’s bad could have been prevented if he didn’t deceive himself. Believer, you do not want to be found on the wrong side of sin. Jesus didn’t die for our sins so we could continue in sin.
The deception is also borne out of hypocrisy. When you play like you didn’t sin, truth will not be on your side. The one thing that you can count on is love will always love and rejoice at the truth.
Being hypocritical about Secret Sexual Sins only underscores the fact that we are refusing to come to God on His terms to help us. Sin is very destructive. It’s not worth going to hell over.
So when you are confronted with people and pastors that cannot handle the truth and they always deflect away from the root issues of life, it’s because of hypocritical self deception.
David’s True Goliath was Secret Sexual Sins, but it’s root will always be found in hypocritical self deception.
Psalm 51:6 says,
“Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”
It is in this Psalm that David finds repentance and restoration in His relationship with the Lord. It is there that deception could no longer provide a safe haven for Secret Sexual Sins.
That’s the true price of exposure.
To slay the true Goliath of your life, you must throw aside hypocritical self deception and take the pain of truth deep in the hidden parts of your life. You will find in the long run that you could have saved yourself a lot of trouble and misery by confessing all your dirt is the place where God takes a stick with leaves, dips it in blood and scrubs us clean.
Whiter than snow.
David was chased by his sons, lost his wives, and left the kingdom and this life “going the way of all the world” in disgraced. Yes, David was forgiven but the price and the episodes after his sin is not something that we are to emulate.
Solomon didn’t fair well either. The third king of Israel had 1000+ women. Sacrificed to idol gods. Sacrificed his offspring to them and died a disgrace because of sexual immorality.
Many people call that “finishing well.”
They were finished because they didn’t kill the real Goliath of their lives.
