In the wake of the untimely passing of Pastor Zachary Tims in my former home city of New York, we see a progressive pattern.
While facts surrounding his death are being determined, we must not let speculation and second guessing rule the issues. We must be disciplined enough to let the facts be revealed. We must learn that as a Body of believers in Jesus, we can do more good by walking in love and speaking the truth in love.
This lost is profound, partly because of the history behind the man. New Destiny lost a pastor that, under the circumstances, tried to lead a lot of people.
There are many believers at New Destiny that loved him, that followed him, and his teaching. According to certain sources, it appeared that he had a major positive impact on the young generation of his time.
With Pastor Tims, it is a clear indication that we need not hang dirty laundry out to dry. We must, however, live with what is factual and present the Word of His grace in truth and love.
At this time, we must let the family mourn.
After a reasonable time of mourning, they must select a new pastor and receive from God, His eternal plans, purpose, and ordained destiny for New Destiny.
A tragedy occurred that will impact his family and members of New Destiny for some time to come but earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
There is no question in my mind that sooner or later, if we do not get to the root causes of open doors of demonic forces invading the lives of pastoral leadership, we will never stop the onslaught of destruction that seek to destroy more pastors.
It does matter that it’s a mega church because the magnitude of the loss is incredible. We are beginning to see an alarming trend that become clear warning signals that pastors of any sized church must take heed.
At a later date, we will discuss and address these issues.
For now, our love, condolences, and thoughts goes the Tims’ family and the New Destiny family.
We know and graciously expect that God will comfort those that mourn and give them sustaining strength to bear up under this tragedy with love and God’s everlasting grace.
